MultiVersus Leaker Teases Injustice 3 In The Works

Summary

  • Recent tease hints at potential return to Injustice franchise by NetherRealm Studios.
  • Leaker’s tweet mentioning “injustice” raises speculation about Injustice 3.
  • Possibility of Injustice 3 announcement this year as NetherRealm’s boss hints at long-standing plan.

According to whispers from a leaker, it seems NetherRealm Studios may be planning to revisit the Injustice series as they are reportedly ending their support for Mortal Kombat 1 and have yet to announce their next game.

Information about upcoming characters in the Warner Bros. multiplayer brawler, MultiVersus, was shared by a trusted source familiar with the game. This tease suggests that the game will be temporarily unavailable starting May 30.

Could We Be Getting An Injustice 3 Announcement Soon?

Over on X (formerly Twitter), known MultiVersus leaker MultiverSusie made the following tweet:

It’s clear that the leaker’s tweet uses the term ‘injustice’ three times, and to make it even more apparent, they followed up by posting only the number “3” in response to their own tweet.

Although it’s not yet a definitive announcement, there have been whispers about a possible third installment in the series that we haven’t heard for quite some time. After Injustice 2 was launched in 2017, the franchise has seen no new releases, with NetherRealm Studios focusing on Mortal Kombat 11, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, and more recently, Mortal Kombat 1.

If NetherRealm considers returning to the DC fighting game series, such a decision could be logical, considering the response to Mortal Kombat 1 wasn’t as enthusiastic as MK11. It might be beneficial for the franchise to pause for a moment and regroup.

At the time of its launch, Injustice 2 was widely acclaimed as one of the top-tier fighting games available. Our assessment noted that it outshines its predecessor, Injustice: God Among Us, in nearly every aspect. It boasts faster gameplay, smoother mechanics, enhanced animations, and superior writing, making it NetherRealm’s finest fighting game to date.

On the review platform Open Critic, the game received a strong “Mighty” rating, averaging 87 based on more than 150 professional critiques.

Let me clarify once more that this potential reveal might not be confirmed yet, and could merely be a hopeful speculation from the leaker. However, given that the head of NetherRealm Studios mentioned their next game has been in the works for some time, it wouldn’t surprise me if we heard an announcement about it this year.
