In the realm of fighting games, it’s common for players to connect deeply with a particular character. The extensive cast of characters in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising offers numerous options for these connections. Yet, even after finding a favorite character, there might be instances where this chosen character doesn’t perform as well as others being utilized.
In essence, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is an updated version of the original Granblue Fantasy Versus, featuring many familiar faces. Yet, there are significant modifications and innovative mechanics at play. Consequently, champions who excelled in the previous installment might find their performance less optimal in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.
Fighter Tier List for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
Many characters are reliable picks and can compete well against other players no matter their chosen character. These characters fall under B-tier. Nonetheless, there are certain characters who excel more consistently, particularly when used by an experienced player. These characters have surpassed the B-tier threshold and are now in the A-Tier.
In much the same way that some characters excel beyond expectations, others fall short. While lower-tier characters (B-tier) can defeat higher-ranked ones (A- and even S-tier), less skilled players will find it difficult to win matches against those in A- and S-tiers using C-tier characters. The S-tier is reserved for characters that perform so exceptionally well, they warrant a distinct category to demonstrate the value of mastering their play.
Tier | Characters |
S-tier | Beatrix, Versusia, Grimnir, Zeta |
A-tier | Percival, Katalina, Belial, Anre, Seox, Cagliostro, Narrmaya, Sandalphon |
B-tier | 2B, Metera, Soriz, Lowain, Ferry, Siegfried, Beelzebub, Luilius, Charlotta, Lancelot, Gran, Djeeta, Vaserga, |
C-tier | Eustace, Zooey, Avatar Belial Avatar, Vria, Yuel, Nier, Ladiva, Vane, Vikala, Anila |
The arrangement of characters within each tier varies greatly among different players. For instance, character 2B might be elevated to the A-tier by some skilled players, but others may find her difficult to play effectively, relegating her to the lower end of the B-tier.
S-Tier Fighters for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
Beatrix
- East of use: 5/5 Stars
In the first installment of the Character Expansion Pack, Beatrix was introduced as a playable character in the game, and she certainly has some unique abilities up her sleeve. For instance, she can release projectiles that either start slowly and gradually pick up speed or launch fast from the beginning. Additionally, players can use her Delta Clock to slow down their opponents.
Using the Delta Clock is crucial for linking into some of Beatrix’s strongest sequences, and players must become proficient in this technique to elevate her gameplay to an elite level. However, with her rating of 5/5 stars, this task can prove quite challenging. Beatrix has the ability to terminate combos using various skills that allow her to counter whatever her opponent throws at her, making her a formidable force against both defensive and high-level zoning playstyles.
With Beatrix, players can quickly recover from losing ground as her Delta Clock activates following heavy assaults once she’s nearly depleted (about one-third) of her health. Yet, it’s worth noting that there is a cool-down period between these automatic activations.
Versusia
- East of use: 2/5 Stars
With Beatrix, Versusia was also introduced in DLC Character Pass 1. Her range alone makes her an appealing choice, but she’s particularly beneficial for beginners seeking a user-friendly character. As players advance, Versusia becomes increasingly formidable. She possesses a self-buff called Celestial Dominion, which is essential for maximizing her abilities effectively.
As a gamer, I might have concerns that overusing this move could lead to harsher penalties. But remember, it’s like mastering the art of setting up combos – it’s a strategic advantage, not a weakness. I may be vulnerable to swift attacks if my position is compromised, but I can counter with powerful retaliations and maintain control over the battlefield, keeping opponents at an optimal distance for maximum effectiveness.
Zeta
- East of use: 4/5 Stars
Zeta is a fantastic character to engage in confrontations with. She’s capable of rapidly firing multiple attacks at varying heights, and persistently pressures opponents who try to maintain their distance. Being a mid-range character, she consistently encourages opponents to retreat towards her optimal fighting zone.
If a player strays beyond their usual range, they can counter by using ranged beam attacks, then quickly close the gap with a dash attack. They can even execute multiple dashing maneuvers in various directions to keep pace with their opponent as they try to retreat.
Grimnir
- East of use: 3/5 Stars
As a dedicated fan, I must say, there’s nothing quite as awe-inspiring as witnessing a seasoned Grimnir player in action. This Zoner character is not just iconic in the fighting game landscape, but particularly so when they’ve got an expansive toolkit at their disposal. Grimnir’s arsenal includes a variety of projectiles that keep opponents on their toes, trying to decipher his next strategic move. These projectiles range from swift winds, to slower ones, and even spinning, stationary gusts. It’s truly a spectacle to behold!
These winds may follow a direct course, take a turn following a brief pause, or even come to a halt midway. Regardless of the pattern, there’s no forewarning or predictability involved. In other words, there’s nowhere that can be considered safe when Grimnir is in conflict with another entity.
