The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is essentially a follow-up to some classic Arcade fighting games that Capcom produced in the past, offering a flood of memories and powerful nostalgic sensations for those who had the privilege to play these games when they were at their gaming zenith.
With eight distinct fighting games included, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 provides a multitude of Fighter Achievements that don’t restrict the player to one character, meaning mastery of the top fighter in each game can significantly streamline the process of completing them, bypassing the tedious trial and error phase.
8. Gunrock
Power Stone
In contrast to the 2D combat experiences found in Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Power Stone series presents a unique approach with its three-dimensional, top-down gameplay style. This change offers an exciting and engaging experience that is both distinct and challenging.
In the initial stage of the game Power Stone, battles are strictly one-on-one, and it’s clear that Gunrock is an exceptional fighter. He may not be swift in movement, but his attacks pack a punch, rivaling even special moves. If players can corner their opponent using Gunrock, the game is practically won with a victory!
7. Mel
Power Stone 2
Stepping into Power Stone 2, I can feel the excitement brewing! Compared to its predecessor, this edition brings a fresh twist. It’s all about the four-player free-for-all battles now, reminiscent of the epic brawls in the Super Smash Bros. series.
In Power Stone 2, due to the presence of three adversaries to confront, Gunrock may no longer be an optimal pick. Instead, it seems that Mel has emerged as a more favorable character, often referred to as the “meta”. Although she might not be the swiftest character, Mel still boasts reasonable movement speeds and possesses a unique special move. This move creates a rotating circle around her, which can knock down any opponent in close proximity. Given the effectiveness of this special move, Mel is now considered one of the top picks to play.
6. Clair
Plasma World
In the realm of Plasma World, Claire exhibits exceptional skill with swords, a remarkable weapon that empowers her to inflict close-combat damage from a reasonable distance. This advantage sets her apart from characters who must approach adversaries more closely to land their blows.
Apart from this, Claire’s unique skill involves a powerful thrust from her sword, penetrating the foe deeply, inflicting substantial harm without necessitating the character to get near or engage physically with the enemy.
Claire’s move patterns may not be particularly swift, and she isn’t a highly agile combatant like some others, yet she can certainly secure a win if the player strategically utilizes her abilities at opportune moments.
5. Pyron, Ryu
Capcom Fighting Evolution
In Capcom Fighting Evolution, you’ll find an exceptional array of characters, drawn from various titles, pitted together in fierce combat. The roster boasts many outstanding fighters and beloved personalities, but few can stand up to the catastrophic assaults dished out by Pyron.
In this game, Pyron is unquestionably a remarkably strong character, boasting swift, sticking attacks that inflict substantial harm on the opponent. Once you corner an adversary using Pyron’s powerful punch, it becomes almost effortless to deplete their health meter rapidly.
As there’s a need for another character pick, I’d go with Ryu this time around. To be fair, M. Bison deserves an honorable shout-out too!
4. Kurow, Hyo, Tiffany
Project Justice
As a devoted fan, I can confidently say that Project Justice in Capcom Fighting Collection offers an unmatched level of excitement when it comes to tag-team fighting games. It’s thrilling beyond words to accumulate power points during combat and subsequently unleash those spectacular moves with the assistance of my fellow characters!
Much like other games on the roster, Project Justice features an extensive collection of unique characters, however, any standout selection should incorporate at least one of Hyo or Kurow. These particular characters boast powerful moves that are relatively simple to execute. The gameplay in Project Justice may seem slightly slower compared to others, enhancing the significance of precise timing.
It appears that Tiffany would make an excellent selection for the third position. Her swift agility and impressive repertoire of unique, enjoyable, and user-friendly special moves make her stand out.
3. Morrigan, Chun-Li
Capcom Vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro
Morrigan is renowned in the Darkstalkers series, appearing frequently in Capcom’s fighting games. Her widespread popularity stems from the versatility of her move sets, which cater to various playing styles.
Absolutely, it’s true she may not always excel at dealing ranged damage, given that many of her attacks necessitate getting fairly close to the foe. However, she certainly packs a punch in close quarters, boasting some straightforward yet potent moves with a good field of effect that make her a formidable force during intense battles.
In the initial release of Capcom Vs. SNK, players will find Chun-Li positioned not far from Morrigan. Compared to Morrigan, Chun-Li delivers swift combos and has a smoother gameplay feel.
2. Morrigan, Cammy, Yuri
Capcom Vs. SNK 2: Mark Of The Millennium 2001
In the sequel of Capcom Vs. SNK, the characters’ lineup is mostly unchanged compared to the original version. However, it introduces various combat styles that players must pick prior to choosing their character, diversifying the gameplay experience.
In the sequel, Morrigan maintains her impressive fighting prowess. By preserving much of her strength from the previous game, Capcom Vs. SNK, she remains a top pick for battle, making it effortless to consistently choose her first.
In the next installment, players are asked to pick three characters rather than two. Although Chun-Li remains a solid option, Cammy and Yuri offer more dynamic move sets and possess potent special abilities. Consequently, it’s recommended to find other characters that can counteract Morrigan’s slow attack speed.
1. Fei Long
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper
Including Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is an excellent decision, as it features some of the most cherished characters from the Street Fighter series, making it a delight to revisit and play with all these iconic fighters.
Regarding the standout characters, it seems that Fei Long truly shines above the rest. He boasts exceptional kicks and respectable punches, but it’s his extraordinary special move that sets him apart – a key factor making him a top-tier choice in this game. Nevertheless, while Fei Long is undeniably strong, it doesn’t mean he’ll always secure the victory. The gap between the leading characters in this game is relatively small.
