In the game ‘Blades of Fire’, numerous potent adversaries pose a threat. The Queen’s Hounds, who might seem harmless at first glance, can pack quite a punch. They are capable of delivering two strong attacks on Aran, reducing his health significantly and forcing him to retreat to the last Anvil. Early in the game, one particularly formidable opponent you may encounter is a colossal Troll wandering around the Besacarr Hamlet region.
In the game “Blades of Fire,” you’ll find that trying to attack a Troll with your sword or polearm won’t cause much harm to its health. Instead, it requires its health bar to be drained completely not once, but twice before it can regenerate. This guide will provide insights on when and how to effectively defeat the Troll in Blades of Fire.
Where To Find The Troll In Blades Of Fire
In the western part of Besacarr Hamlet, the Queen’s Hounds have cornered a Troll near the gate. Once it breaks free, it will aggressively target Aran. After you manage to flee, this troll will wander around the area, searching for prey, and immediately attack if it catches a whiff of Aran’s scent. This creature is remarkably swift and will pursue you if it sees, hears, or smells you. Your current weapons will be ineffective against the Troll; a Warhammer will merely rebound off its tough hide, and the sword you initially acquired won’t inflict any substantial damage on it. To conquer this Troll in Blades of Fire, Aran must first craft a Longspear.
If you find yourself ill-prepared to handle a Troll, maintain a safe distance and trail behind it instead. It tends to eliminate other foes nearby and destroy unnecessary objects, allowing you to collect wood and iron as loot afterward.
How To Forge A Longspear In Blades Of Fire
In order to forge a spear within “Blades of Fire”, you need to first vanquish five spearmen and have Asdo by your side to document the victories in his annals. If Asdo is absent, the triumphs will go unrecorded.
Where To Find The Speamen
It’s convenient that the spearmen in Besacarr Hamlet are easy to find – they’re situated on the western side, close to the gate and lever. These combatants move swiftly, possess a long attack range, and can defeat Aran with just two strikes. To counter them effectively, focus on mastering evasive maneuvers like dodges, and time your responses carefully during heavy attacks. However, if you find yourself surrounded, opt for rapid attacks after blocking, parrying, and dodging to chip away at their health bars. Heavy attacks consume more time to execute and leave Aran exposed.
A strategic approach would be to scout out and neutralize as many guards as you can find, and smash every barrel and pot around to gather a lot of resources such as iron and wood. This will help you craft an effective spear.
Forge Your Spear
Following my victory against the spearmen, I’ll acquire the Longspear Forge Scroll. Then, I should seek solace near an Anvil and revisit the Forge to construct the spear using the fresh blueprints. My goal is to craft a spear of maximum length and highest damage output possible. Since I aim for the highest one-shot damage, I won’t concern myself with weight and its impact on stamina. Now, equipped with my new spear, it’s time to engage in battle against the fearsome Troll.

How To Beat The Troll In Blades Of Fire

Equipped with your spear, it’s now time for you to locate the Troll. It has been roaming around the same vicinity where it escaped. If you have a controller with vibration feedback enabled, you’ll detect its sniffs and footsteps. Here are some strategies to conquer the Troll:
1. Approach carefully: Keep your distance and be cautious as you move closer.
2. Use stealth: Try to stay hidden from its sight to avoid provoking it.
3. Time your strikes: Wait for the right moment to launch an attack, aiming for vulnerable spots.
4. Be patient: Don’t rush in recklessly; take your time and plan your strategy carefully.
- The Troll has two health bars.
- Fight the Troll in an open area, don’t get caught in small spaces.
- Spear swings appear to hurt the Troll more than stabs, so make sure Aran is in the right stance.
- Dodge the Troll’s attacks instead of blocking and parrying.
- Heavy attacks, performed by holding the attack button down, will do significant damage. Some light attacks may not hurt it at all. After most attacks, the Troll will pause in between attacks, giving you time to hit it with an attack of your own.
When encountering a troll, be prepared for it to hurl debris that resembles waste or vomit. To stay safe, use evasive maneuvers by dodging to the sides when necessary.
- When you deplete the yellow health bar, the Troll will be stunned and will try to cast Petrify on itself. If it does this, it’ll fully replenish the yellow health bar.
- As soon as the Troll is stunned, hit it with a heavy attack to the head chop it off. Even though the head is chopped off, it won’t die and will continue to blindly attack while it looks for its head.
Striking the troll’s arms may cause them to fall off, yet even with only one arm, they remain a formidable threat and can regrow quicker.
- Now, it’s time to hit it with everything you’ve got before it finds its head and regenerates.
Instead of common foes in the region, the Troll stands out as a mini-boss that won’t reappear after defeat, making the area safer for exploration. However, additional Troll encounters await, and vanquishing five will grant Aran a new Greatsword Forge Scroll as a reward. Unfortunately, the items it may drop are often unpredictable; sometimes you might find some good iron or a large quantity of petrified tips instead.
