Monster Hunter Wilds Kicks Off Its Street Fighter Crossover With Free Akuma Armor

Next week, two of Capcom’s most popular franchises, Monster Hunter World and Street Fighter, are set to merge. The studio has announced a joint venture between these two titles known as Monster Hunter x Street Fighter 6, and fans of Monster Hunter World can enjoy select features from this crossover event at no cost.

Capcom unveiled a crossover event, showcasing the legendary Street Fighter character, Akuma, utilizing his feet, fists, and even guns to vanquish colossal monsters in a trailer. This fearless warrior will continue to fight, and from May 28, 2025, players like you will have the opportunity to take on monster hunting as Akuma.

On May 28th, the complete armor set of Akuma and corresponding layered equipment will be introduced across all platforms in Monster Hunter Worlds. A brief moment in the trailer shows “KO, Akuma Wins” on-screen accompanied by a Street Fighter-esque narrator voiceover. It remains unclear if this occurs each time you defeat a monster while using Akuma, but I sincerely hope it does!

Apart from potential Akuma armor, next week’s free update to Wilds will introduce an adorable Blanca-chan outfit for your Palico companion as well. This outfit doesn’t transform your Palico into Blanka, but rather offers a playful rendition of the Street Fighter character that fits the Palico’s style better than the original counterpart.

To enjoy the new Akuma and Blanka-Chan gear in Wilds, there’s a small catch – you won’t automatically receive it. Instead, you need to finish a mission named Ultimate Strength first. Keep in mind that only players with a Hunter Rank (HR) of 21 or above can attempt this new quest. To initiate the mission, simply find the Vespae Unit handler at the Oilwell Basin Base Camp and have a chat with them to get started.

On May 28th, additional Street Fighter content will be added to Monster Hunter Wilds. However, the rest of the content will require payment. The paid DLC will feature new costumes for Alma; one modeled after Chun-Li and another resembling Street Fighter’s Cammy. Additionally, you’ll receive a Blanka-Chan doll that coordinates with your Palico, Street Fighter decals, and gestures inspired by Capcom’s legendary fighting series.
