How To Obtain The Blue Chicken
People who’ve played Stardew Valley understand the value of chickens, especially at the beginning stages of their farming adventure.
They manufacture different sizes of these items, which are versatile enough for both culinary uses and crafting DIY products for potential earnings. Moreover, it’s worth noting their eco-friendly benefits, as they contribute significantly towards sustainability.
With the 1.6 update, you now have the option to choose the Meadowlands farm layout as your starting point, which includes a coop and 2 initial structures. These additions will help boost the animals’ affection towards you at an astonishing rate.
Absolutely, if you’re looking for something a bit more exciting than the typical white or brown chickens on your farm, why not consider adding a striking blue-colored chicken? They don’t have any special functions, but boy do they look fantastic! And at the end of the day, isn’t that what truly counts?
Building A Chicken Coop

Of course, if you’re aiming for blue chickens, you’ll surely require a suitable pen or enclosure to house them. You can set this up affordably at the beginning of your adventure, if you wish.
Simply go to
with the following materials:
-
300
-
100
- 4000g
In your initial phase, although it might appear costly at first glance, you’ll soon recover the expenses by either selling the harvest or transforming the eggs into something intriguing.
Currently, the chicken coop accommodates up to 4 birds. However, as your needs grow, you have the option to expand it in the future, which could enable additional features such as housing different types of animals, incubators, and automatic feeders.
Becoming Friends With Shane

After acquiring your coop, you’ll need to begin the process of winning over Shane, as he plays a crucial role in selling blue chickens. It would be beneficial to initiate this relationship as soon as possible since his birthday falls on the 20th day of Spring, which marks the beginning of the year.
To foster this friendship rapidly, consider presenting these thoughtful gestures or tokens:
Loved Gift | Location |
---|---|
Brew in a keg by using wheat, or buy from Gus for 400g | |
Plant Pepper seeds in the Summer | |
Cook by using Hot Pepper and , or buy from or . |
|
Cook with , and Cheese or purchase from Gus for 600g |
|
Universal Loved Gift |
Gifts like and are always loved, but are probably not worth giving due to their cost and rarity when cheaper options are available. |
Whatever I’m up to, just remember not to hand over anything to Shane. Trust me, he won’t appreciate it one bit.
To build your friendship with Shane at the speediest pace, opt for high-quality, spicy peppers as they’ll accelerate things. Alternatively, presenting him with a hot pepper on his birthday would be an excellent and swift method to strengthen your bond.
He can usually be found working in the Joja Mart or the Saloon in the evening.
Completing Shane’s Heart Events

Before you can see the blue chicken, Shane requires you to navigate through a specific set of events first. If you don’t finish these tasks, the blue chicken will remain hidden from your view.
It’s heartening to witness Shane progressing towards wellness. His tale in Stardew Valley is certainly one of the challenging narratives.
2 Heart Event
Once you earn two hearts, you can rendezvous with Shane at 8 pm in Cindersap Forest. There, you’ll enjoy a beer together and he’ll share stories from his life. You may find yourself feeling slightly giddy after their conversation, navigating your way home under the cover of night.
4 Heart Event
You can initiate this event anytime following the acquisition of 4 hearts by visiting ‘s farmhouse. This sequence will involve an interaction with Shane, who is found drunk on the floor of his bedroom. It’s a challenging scene that underscores the repercussions of his struggles on those around him.
6 Heart Event
At Cindersap Forest, during the hours between 8 am and 9 pm, specifically when it’s raining, you can trigger this event. Here, you will encounter Shane who appears close to the edge of a cliff. Your task will be to persuade him that life continues to hold value.
The initial conversation choice won’t influence his friendship status, and he’ll be attended to at the hospital instead.
The following day, he’s set to visit you. The words you choose could impact his friendship, so consider saying either “I’m glad I was able to assist” or “It’s just wonderful that you’re still around.” Choosing the opposite might make him upset and diminish your bond, so try to avoid it.
7 Heart Event Part 1 & 2
After finishing these tasks and strengthening your bond even more, you’ll be able to access Marnie’s Ranch – a place where Shane shares a significant revelation about his life: he has quit drinking. As a result of the money he’s conserved, he presents you with a gift.
After that, you should visit “Pelican Town” between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., preferably on a bright day without clouds. It is essential to have established a friendship of at least two hearts with both “Clint” and “Emily”, as they play significant roles in this event.
This scene unfolds with Shane pursuing a fresh interest – filmmaking. Here, he’s attempting to create an ad for the upcoming Joja promotion. He’s enlisted both of you to act in this production. You’ll make a cameo appearance, and Shane will express his gratitude for your assistance.
8 Heart Event
At long last, after all events have concluded, I make my way into Shane’s homestead, finding him there amidst a flock of his unique blue chickens – the coveted prize we’ve both sought.
He’s going to discuss sharing his expertise on raising chickens with Jas, and once that’s done, this specific event will be over. Of course, there are more events afterward, but this is the crucial part if you’re aiming for blue chickens.
How To Obtain The Blue Chicken

After the conclusion of this activity, each time you hatch an egg, whether it’s white or brown, there’s a possibility of getting a blue chicken. This occurs approximately one out of four times, or about a 25% chance.
Upon finishing this event, every egg you hatch (whether it’s white, brown, or any other color), has roughly a 1 in 4 chance of producing a blue chicken. This means that around 25% of the eggs will result in a blue chicken.
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: If you’re not keen on waiting for eggs to hatch, you can skip that process altogether by purchasing one directly from Marnie, just as you usually would. After the regular dialogue, you’ll reach the part where you place your new chicken. Whether you get a standard white or brown bird, or our special blue egg-layer, will be revealed then.
Continue purchasing chickens from Marnie, and if she doesn’t have the one you desire, cancel the transaction. Eventually, you’ll find the blue chicken you’re looking for, and you can populate your farm with them. It’s quite a spectacle when all those fluffy blue birds are together!
