ARMA Reforger PS5 Mods

Have you ever found yourself playing ARMA Reforger on your PlayStation 5, wishing you had a tank at that moment? Great news! Due to the joint effort between Bohemia Interactive and Sony, you can now, at last, enjoy the impressive mods your PC and Xbox friends have been boasting about for months.

The modification comes as part of the ARMA Reforger 1.4 upgrade, and essentially transforms the PS5 edition into a nearly new game due to the heavily mod-focused nature of its multiplayer environment, which has prevailed since the era of ARMA 2.

To begin with, ARMA Reforger automatically reserves about 25GB of space on your PlayStation 5 for potential future mod downloads. You can choose and install these add-ons using the built-in Workshop feature within the game itself.

The Long Road to Mod Compatibility

Back in May 2022, I found myself diving into ARMA Reforger during its early access launch on PC and the Xbox Series S and X. The game’s debut was a bit bumpy, to put it mildly, and for most of its first year, it seemed like it was hanging by a thread. But Bohemia Interactive, veterans in the world of first-person shooters, didn’t throw in the towel. They kept at it.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been part of an ever-growing community that kept the momentum going for this game until its 1.0 release in November 2023. We managed to push it past the 1,000 average concurrent players mark, but let’s be honest, it was nowhere near the numbers garnered by its predecessor, ARMA 3.

The significant surge in the game’s fan base occurred in December 2024, as Bohemia unveiled ARMA Reforger on the PlayStation 5. With its cross-play feature allowing unrestricted play across platforms, the game’s daily player count soared to approximately 172,000.

For Steam users specifically, there has been an average of about 20,000 simultaneous players, which is significantly more than the fewer than 2,000 seen prior to the launch of the PlayStation 5.

Bohemia clearly communicated their collaboration with Sony in creating a dependable system for adding mods to the ARMA Reforger game within the PlayStation 5 environment, which is generally closed off to mods in most of its games.

Following a bit of disappointment when the PS5 modding workshop wasn’t included in the 1.3 update, I’m thrilled that the Sony community of ARMA Reforger can now start integrating those awesome Abrams tanks and Zenitco Kalashnikovs into our gaming experience!
