Summary

  • Oda doesn’t focus on powerscaling in One Piece, prioritizing world-building and storytelling.
  • Recent arcs introduce powerful characters like Scopper Gaban, bypassing immortality effortlessly.
  • Fans should speculate but not impose beliefs, as stronger characters will always emerge in due time.

The popular anime series “One Piece” stands out for its captivating storylines and intricate world-creation, thanks to Eiichiro Oda’s dedicated craftsmanship. This dedication has played a significant role in making it a massive success. Within the expansive universe of “One Piece”, there are numerous robust characters, each endowed with impressive abilities.

Fans adore these characters due to their power and frequently delve into detailed discussions about their abilities. However, these conversations can become heated when someone tries to argue that their preferred character is more powerful than others. Although fans take the power balance in the story seriously, Eiichiro Oda tends not to focus too heavily on it.

Oda Doesn’t Care About Powerscaling

Contrary to typical expectations in the shonen manga genre, Eiichiro Oda seems less concerned with powerscaling. He appears to have minimal interest in extensively evaluating characters’ strength levels. For instance, Luffy’s most potent ability, Gear 5, is characterized as being quite childish and whimsical. This suggests that Oda prefers maintaining a lighthearted tone and deviates from conventional shonen manga norms. Typically, strong characters are introduced in an arc, prompting fans to scrutinize their strength levels meticulously. However, in One Piece, this is not the primary focus.

Previously mentioned is that Oda often overlooks a character’s raw strength. For example, in the Wano Country storyline, it was revealed that Kaido was unmatched; he’s known as the strongest creature on earth. His skin was reportedly impenetrable to any attack. However, Luffy and Zoro managed to injure him using Advanced Conqueror’s Haki.

Each Arc Introduces New Strong Characters

During the Egghead storyline, Saint. Topman Warcury astonished viewers by withstanding an attack from Luffy’s Gear 5 without any visible consequences. Interestingly, it was Luffy who suffered an injury to his fist in the encounter, suggesting that the Gorosei might possess strength equal or greater than the Yonko.

In the Elbaf saga, Scopper Gaban skillfully outmaneuvered the immortality of the Holy Knights. It’s important to note that Gaban, though past his peak, is on par with Rayleigh. This battle against a Holy Knight has sparked discussions among fans about the pirate’s strength. These instances suggest that Oda values world-building and storytelling more than powerscaling in his work.

Should Fans Give Up On Powerscaling?

Fans are free to ponder and theorize as they please, but it’s important not to impose personal interpretations on others. Moreover, keep in mind that even the most powerful characters won’t stay on top forever. Lastly, remember that Oda doesn’t necessarily share the same views. He may depict a character as invincible in one storyline, but in another, there will emerge individuals who surpass them.

There Will Be More Powerful Characters In Elbaf

Oda Might Introduce More Holy Knights

  • There are already three Holy Knights in Elbaf
  • Oda could reveal more members soon

Oda has presented a host of robust characters within Elbaf, and it seems like he won’t be slowing down this trend any time soon. At the present moment, Scopper Gaban is embroiled in a confrontation with the Holy Knights. These individuals are infamous for kidnapping all the children from Elbaf, including Collun, who happens to be Gaban’s son. Given the situation, it’s no surprise that Gaban was enraged by their actions. Consequently, he swiftly took action against them.

In Chapter 1148 of One Piece, Gaban severed Sommers’ right hand and attacked his torso. Earlier, it was shown that the Holy Knights could regenerate, essentially making them immortal. Neither Usopp nor Robin were successful in harming the Holy Knights with their attacks. However, the fact that Gaban managed to bypass their immortality so effortlessly is a significant shift. Even if Sommers loses the fight, there are still two more Holy Knights present in Elbaf. If they sense danger, they can summon reinforcements and potentially regain control of the situation.

1) Since spectators have witnessed Shamrock’s might, the Giants could face serious trouble if he comes back. There are still unseen powers among the Holy Knights, and Elbaf seems ideal for them to manifest. To ensure Elbaf’s survival, it is crucial that Gaban instructs Luffy and his companions on how to counteract the Holy Knights’ immortality. (In a more conversational tone)

– We already know Shamrock is strong, so if he shows up again, the Giants are in big trouble. Other Holy Knights have powers we haven’t seen yet, and Elbaf seems like the perfect place for them to show off. For Elbaf to stay alive, Gaban needs to teach Luffy and friends how to stop the Holy Knights from being immortal.
