Summary
- Double Kukris are fun but weak early on due to enemy armor. Save for later use or upgrade.
- Hyssop is a heavy weapon for one-shot kills, but slow and low in defense. Effective against armor.
- Warhammer offers heavy and piercing damage, but slow and leaves Aran vulnerable. Effective against slower enemies.
In the heart of Blades of Fire lies its intense battle system, which plays a pivotal role in gameplay. The character, Aran de Lira, is both a formidable warrior and a blacksmith favored by the gods with the mission to vanquish an evil queen and rejuvenate the stone-hard steel across the realm. Aran derives his power not from enhancements like health or stamina boosts found in runes, but rather from the very steel that he forges into his weapons.
In the popular game, Blades of Fire, several superior weapons can be obtained relatively quickly in the initial regions – Besacarr Hamlet and the Hollow Plains. These early-game finds will significantly aid Aran throughout most of his gaming experience. Here’s a rundown of the top weapons Aran can craft early on in Blades of Fire.
Over time, all types of weapons lose their potency as they get repeatedly used. Once they become worn out, not even the strongest weapons will be able to penetrate armor-clad adversaries or tough-skinned creatures.
6. Double Kukris
Fast And Fun To Use, But Weak In The Early Game
Weapon Type | Daggers |
---|---|
Forge Scroll Requirements | Kill 30 Marauders |
In simpler terms, Double Kukris are daggers that you can acquire by slaying 30 Marauders hidden within some houses in Besacarr Hamlet and the Hollow Plains area. These weapons are great for quick, successive attacks when used by Aran. However, many of the enemies found in these regions have thick armor, making them immune to these daggers’ effects.
Instead, it’s best to hold onto the Kukris for now. They perform well against Marauders, but they would be more effective later when Aran has improved materials and enhancements from the Seneschal Statues, or if he manages to unlock a superior version of the Dagger.
5. Hyssop
A Heavy Weapon Good For One-Shot Kills
Weapon Type | Polearm |
---|---|
Forge Scroll Requirements | Forged as part of the storyline |
The Hyssop is a powerful, blunt weapon capable of instantly defeating enemies whose heads are exposed. This is the initial weapon Aran learns to forge in the Smithy of the Gods and it serves well against the Queen’s guards.
In your initial skirmish with The Queen’s Hounds following departure from the camp house, it would be wiser to opt for Hyssop over the sword you initially play with. However, keep in mind that the Hyssop is rather sluggish and offers minimal defensive blocking. To effectively combat these adversaries, players should either time their attacks or employ stealthy strikes from behind. Opponents armed with smaller weapons tend to move quicker, managing to strike Aran before his sword swing is complete.
4. Warhammer
A Heavy Weapon With Piercing Damage
Weapon Type | Polearm |
---|---|
Forge Scroll Requirements | Kill 10 Mayhem Warmongers |
The Warhammer shares some characteristics with the Hyssop, but it stands out due to its dual functionality – both a bludgeon and a spearpoint. With a gentle strike, it can rip through adversaries, while a single powerful blow is often enough to defeat foes with less armor. However, like other polearms in Blades of Fire, it’s a slow weapon with limited defense, making Aran susceptible to quicker enemies or when surrounded. It excels against slower opponents such as trolls or Mayhem Warmongers.
In the peaceful settlement of Besacarr Hamlet, you’ll find two Mayhem Warmongers holding gate keys, but unfortunately, they won’t reappear after death. To the east, in the Hollow Plains camp, there’s a Warmonger who does respawn. Slay this Warmonger eight times to unlock the ‘forget scroll’ for the Warhammer. Remember to have Adso by your side during these battles, as he’ll record each kill and help you secure the ‘Forge Scrolls’.
3. Army Sword
Aran’s Starting Weapon Is Weak, But A Better Version Can Be Crafted
Weapon Type | Sword |
---|---|
Forge Scroll Requirements | Aran’s first weapon |
As I embarked on my adventure, I was thrilled to obtain my initial sword – but it turned out to be quite underwhelming when facing the Queen’s Hounds in Besecarr Hamlet. To my surprise, this weapon proved surprisingly feeble. However, luckily for me, there’s a Sword Seneschal in Besacarr who offers valuable upgrades for all swords craftable within the game.
Revamp a fresh edition of the Seneschal by utilizing superior grade metals such as steel and iron. This upgrade will significantly enhance the Army Sword, making it faster with both cutting and penetrating abilities that could potentially defeat enemies in a single strike under appropriate conditions. It will also provide decent defense when crafted with suitable materials.
2. Claymore
A Powerful Greatsword That Can Slice Through Multiple Enemies
Weapon Type | Greatsword |
---|---|
Forge Scroll Requirements | Kill 60 Putrids In The Hollow Plains |
Among the weapons you can unlock early, the Claymore stands out as one of the most potent. While some might argue it’s the best, its slightly heavier weight holds it back somewhat. Yet, if you prefer wielding a hefty sword that moves faster than both the Warhammer and the Hyssop, then the Claymore makes an excellent choice.
This sword shares defensive characteristics akin to the Army Sword, and in an unexpectedly swift sequence, Aran can unleash rapid chain attacks. Two light strikes from the Greatsword usually are enough to eliminate most adversaries. Additionally, it’s powerful enough to simultaneously behead at least two enemies with a single heavy blow of the sword.
1. Longspear
Fast With Heavy Slashing And Piercing Damage
Weapon Type | Spears |
---|---|
Forge Scroll Requirements | Kill Five Spearmen |
It’s fortunate that an exceptionally powerful weapon in “Blades of Fire” can be obtained early, following the elimination of five spearmen in the Besacarr Hamlet region. Ensure that Adso is with Aran for documentation of these kills, then proceed to the Forge of the Gods where you can craft this spear.
Once you’ve triggered the Spear Sensechal in Besacaarr Hamlet, additional enhancements for your spear will be accessible. I recommend going for the Flamed Head and a Curved Cross-Section for optimal damage. The Longspear is an ideal choice for defeating Trolls in Besacarr and the Hollow Plains, as it swiftly dispatches smaller foes with its blend of speed and force.
