Summary
- WWE 2K25 mistakenly calls the late Brian Pillman a WWE Hall of Famer.
- The game features over 300 playable wrestlers, including new additions like Pillman’s son Lexis King.
- Fans speculate Pillman may be included in a future Hall of Fame class.
In the game WWE 2K25, there is a dialogue mistake where it erroneously refers to Brian Pillman as a member of the WWE Hall of Fame. However, Brian Pillman himself isn’t featured in WWE 2K25, but his real-life son is present instead. A statement from longtime commentator Michael Cole attributes an honor to Pillman that hasn’t been earned yet.
In the gaming world of WWE 2K25, an unprecedented variety of wrestling characters is available, making it the largest collection ever for this series. Over 300 wrestlers can be played, encompassing current stars from RAW, SmackDown, and NXT, legendary figures from past battles, and original characters crafted by the Visual Concepts development team.
In the latest edition of WWE 2K25, more than 30 new wrestlers are included in the base game roster, among them is Lexis King, who in real life is the son of the late wrestler Brian Pillman. Sad-Ladder7534 on Reddit noted that a commentary line delivered by Cole during matches refers to King as the son of a WWE Hall of Fame member. Brian Pillman started his wrestling career with WCW in 1989, and teamed up with Stone Cold Steve Austin as The Hollywood Blonds in 1993. Fans of WWE may recall Pillman’s fierce rivalry with Austin and his connection to The Hart Foundation in the mid ’90s. However, despite being well-known among fans of the Attitude Era, Brian Pillman has yet to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
WWE 2K25 May Hint at Future Hall of Fame Inductee
In April of every year, the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place, typically preceding the annual WrestleMania event. The video game WWE 2K25 came out on March 14, roughly a month prior to this year’s ceremony; however, Pillman was not part of this year’s Hall of Fame class. Despite the game having other immersion issues like strange typos on WWE wrestlers’ gear and The Rock taking off the incorrect elbow pad during The People’s Elbow, one fan speculates that this voiced line could be a clue suggesting Pillman might be inducted into a future Hall of Fame class posthumously.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but speculate if we might see the legendary Pillman pop up as an unexpected addition in the upcoming DLC pack for WWE 2K25. It’s worth noting that back in 2024, a Legacy Contract was signed between Pillman’s estate and the WWE, enabling the creation of new merchandise bearing his name and image. Now, there are still two mystery guest stars yet to be unveiled in the DLC roadmap, but as of now, Pillman’s name hasn’t been publicly confirmed. So, while it’s just a hopeful guess on my part, I can’t help but feel a spark of excitement about the possibility!
