Summary
- Toyotaro released an illustration of Goku & Vegeta, not part of DBS 10th anniversary celebrations.
- Fans disappointed by lack of anniversary content and silence on return date for DBS manga.
- Despite hiatus, DBS manga may not be canceled; Toyotaro teases Black Frieza Arc.
Artist Toyotaro recently unveiled a fantastic piece depicting Goku and Vegeta in forms introduced during the series “Dragon Ball Super”. While fans had high hopes for this year’s festivities, many have found the celebrations thus far to be underwhelming.
The Dragon Ball series continues to release content in honor of its 40th anniversary, but since Akio Iyoku clarified that Dragon Ball Daima wasn’t produced for this occasion, fans are puzzled as to why no new films or special anime episodes have been unveiled. Meanwhile, Dragon Ball Super is marking its 10th anniversary even though the manga is temporarily on hold.
Toyotaro Drops New Illustration of Vegeta and Goku
I can’t contain my excitement! During Dragon Ball Legends’ 7th anniversary, the talented Toyotaro sketched an amazing picture featuring Ultra Instinct Goku and Blue Evolved Vegeta – transformations we saw in Dragon Ball Super. Though it’s not part of the Dragon Ball Super anniversary festivities, this artwork has definitely fueled our anticipation for more updates! It seems that fans of Dragon Ball Legends were a bit underwhelmed by their anniversary content, but they’ve found solace in this incredible illustration – many calling it the highlight of the celebration!
As an avid Dragon Ball Super enthusiast, I found myself eagerly anticipating key details during the 10th anniversary celebrations, particularly a comeback date for the manga series that’s currently on hold since March 2024, with a brief reappearance in February 2025. Additionally, whispers of a possible Dragon Ball Super Season 2 continue to circulate, and I remain hopeful that we might hear an official announcement about it later this year.
Is The Dragon Ball Super Manga Canceled?
Due to the absence of any announcement from V-JUMP regarding a new chapter in June, when the Dragon Ball Super manga reaches its 10th anniversary, speculation among fans has arisen as to whether the series might be coming to an end. However, Toyotaro, the creator of the series, has recently given an interview where he hinted at his preparation for the Black Frieza Arc. This suggests that Toyotaro is actively working on the series and may be taking a break, despite the extended hiatus.
Currently, it appears that “Dragon Ball Super” isn’t being terminated. The prolonged break in the series might be due to a puzzle surrounding the legal disagreement over the ownership of the “Dragon Ball” franchise, allegedly involving Shueisha (the publisher) and Capsule Corporation Japan (headed by Akio Iyoku). Since V-JUMP is still releasing “Dragon Ball” content, it seems that Shueisha hopes for the series to persist.
Dragon Ball Super is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Hulu and other streaming services.
