The Pokedex for Pokemon GO is always growing, introducing new creatures for players to capture. In certain regions like Kanto, all the creatures can be found either in the wild or at special events.
Machop made its appearance within Pokemon GO at the game’s launch in July 2016, simultaneously with other Kanto creatures. Over time, additional variants for Machop were introduced. The shimmering version of Machop, known as Shiny Machop, debuted in 2019 during the Battle Shodown event, while Shadow Machop joined the scene in 2020 at the Team GO Rocket event. In 2022, players encountered the shiny form of Shadow Machop during the Team GO Rocket Takeover, and both regular and shiny Dynamax forms of Machop were introduced in 2024 at the Just My Cup of Tea event. Recently, a fortunate Pokemon GO player managed to capture a rare variant of the iconic Fighting-type Pokemon.
On the Reddit forum dedicated to Pokemon GO, user Horro_ recently exhibited an expansion in their collection – a radiant, flawless Machop that emerged from the May 2025 Community Day Classic event. This Kantonian beast is noteworthy due to its gleaming appearance, perfect attack, defense, and HP attributes, as well as a unique backdrop unlike any other Machops. During this special occasion, Pokemon were more frequently spotted in the wild, and participants who completed the research missions available during the Community Day Classic had the opportunity to capture a Machop boasting a distinctive background displaying the Might and Mastery season emblem.
Pokemon GO Player Takes Years to Catch First Shundo
The original poster joyfully announced their capture of their first ever perfect IV, shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO after nine years of playing the game. Fellow Redditors congratulated them on their find and even showed off their own shinies like a player who has a shiny Machamp. Yet another user mentioned they’re at level 45 but haven’t found a perfect IV, shiny Pokemon yet – something that many veteran trainers can relate to as it’s not unusual for them to still be searching for such rare creatures.
If you haven’t had fortune on your side to obtain a rare Pokemon such as Horro_’s Machop, there are other pocket monsters waiting for you at upcoming events. Urshifu is set to join Pokemon GO during the GO Battle Week: Final Strike event scheduled for May 27th. On the other hand, Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta will be featured in Pokemon GO Fest 2025, alongside Gigantamax Rillaboom. The latter event will also bring back the Legendary Titans, which players will encounter during raids.
