What Was The Last of Us Season 2 All About?

In Season 2 of The Last of Us, we follow the storyline of The Last of Us Part II game where Joel and Ellie reside in Jackson. Their bond has deteriorated significantly, leaving them barely speaking to one another. Ellie is determined to become more formidable, so she is being taught combat skills by a man named Jesse. On the other hand, Abby and her companions are on a mission to track down the individual responsible for killing the Fireflies in Salt Lake City, including Abby’s father. Abby has made it clear that she will torture Joel before ultimately taking his life. Concurrently, a character named Dina enters Ellie’s life and captures her heart. Dina also shares a close relationship with Joel. On New Year’s Eve, Ellie and Dina decide to share their first kiss at the party, but one resident calls them derogatory names, prompting Joel to intervene and diffuse the situation. However, this action angers Ellie, causing her to confront Joel angrily.

In the progression of the narrative, Abby and her companions came close to Jackson city and stayed within a resort. Yet, when Abby ventured out to explore, she spotted two locals of Jackson and trailed them. Unfortunately, she got into trouble when she was ambushed by a swarm of the infected. Miraculously, Joel intervened and shielded her from harm. At first, Abby didn’t recognize Joel as the man she had been searching for, but upon realizing it, she subjected him to cruel treatment and brutally murdered him in front of Ellie. With Ellie losing the dearest individual in her existence, she demanded vengeance and wanted the Jackson dwellers to join her cause. However, they refused to let her leave with a group to pursue revenge for Joel’s death. Consequently, Ellie and Dina departed from Jackson and commenced their journey. In addition, viewers were introduced to Isaac and his role as leader of the WLF, along with understanding the reasons behind their conflict with the Seraphites.

On our travels, my companion and I stumbled into a conflict between the WLF and the Seraphites. Matters escalated quickly when Ellie and Dina were set upon by the infected. To my horror, Dina watched as Ellie was bitten. However, we learned that Ellie possessed immunity to this infection, and Dina informed her of her pregnancy. Determined to find Abby, we pressed on, braving increasingly perilous circumstances, including a moment when it seemed Dina might succumb to the infection. But Jesse arrived in the nick of time, rescuing both of us. It was also revealed that Tommy had joined us. As Jesse and Dina made their way back to our refuge, Ellie managed to reach Lakehill Hospital and locate Abby, though she couldn’t find her. Instead, she encountered Nora and ended up killing her. This revelation shed light on the bond between Ellie and Joel that viewers had only glimpsed before.

How Did The Last of Us Season 2 End?

In the last episode, Ellie and Jesse depart from Dina, planning to meet Tommy at a designated spot. But when they arrive, Tommy isn’t present, and it becomes clear that he is battling the WLF on his own. Meanwhile, Ellie uncovers the significance of Nora’s phrase “whales and wheels” and sets off for Seattle Aquarium in search of Abby. During her dangerous trek, a massive wave knocks her unconscious, washing her ashore. Unfortunately, this wasn’t her intended destination. As she regains consciousness, a child in a raincoat emerges from the woods and looks at her. It turns out that this child is part of the Seraphite community, and they forcibly take Ellie before presenting her to their leader.

Ellie begged for her life and informed the boy that she wasn’t from WLF. Unfortunately, the boy wanted her dead. But as they were about to execute their plan, a loud noise occurred, causing everyone to rush to protect their village. Ellie quickly left the area and continued her search for Abby. Later, she overheard a conversation between a man and a woman in another room. It turned out that Mel and Owen were hiding there, with Mel unwilling to join the group that destroyed the Seraphite village.

Ellie revealed herself by pointing a gun at them and demanding they tell her about Abby’s location. She warned them that she would give them five seconds to comply or else she would kill them instantly. However, when Ellie began counting, Owen told Mel she would be killed regardless. Ellie clarified that she wouldn’t harm them if they told her about Abby because she was different from them.

After much hesitation, Owen confessed Abby’s secret to Ellie. In an unexpected turn of events, as he prepared to shoot Ellie, she fired first, hitting Owen in the neck and ending his life immediately. The bullet also struck Mel, ultimately claiming her life as well. On her deathbed, Mel requested that Ellie cut open her stomach, but Ellie couldn’t act before Mel passed away. Tommy and Jesse then escorted Ellie out of the aquarium, leading them to the theater where Dina was staying. Upon arrival, Tommy suggested returning to Jackson, and Ellie reluctantly agreed she had no other choice. Ellie expressed gratitude towards Jesse for returning to her instead of leaving her in Seattle. However, their heartfelt moment was interrupted by gunfire echoing from another part of the theater. As Jesse opened the door, he was fatally shot, forcing Ellie to hide. A voice threatened to kill Tommy unless Ellie emerged, causing more chaos and danger.

Immediately upon Ellie’s emergence, it becomes clear that Abby has discovered her presence and identifies Ellie. Abby recalls sparing Ellie when she killed Joel, admitting it was a grave error. The screen fades to black the instant Abby fires her weapon. A while later, Abby is shown lounging on a couch when Manny informs her that Isaac desires her audience. Rousing herself, Abby perceives the WLF have established themselves within a stadium. As the closing credits commence, viewers catch a glimpse of “Seattle Day One” inscribed upon the screen, hinting that Season 3 will delve into Abby’s adventures.
