Interestingly, one of the most beloved storylines’ backstory was rarely depicted by Oda.

The anime “One Piece” is exceptionally lengthy, boasting numerous remarkable characters. While not all characters in “One Piece” receive comprehensive backstories, the ones that do often receive exceptional narratives.

Over the course of this narrative, Oda has crafted numerous captivating origin stories, sparking intense discussions among followers as they weigh their favorites. Yet, it’s essential to remember that these preferences ultimately boil down to personal opinions, with no definitive ‘best’ story. Nevertheless, certain backstories have garnered more attention within the series than others.

Among One Piece fans, Nico Robin’s backstory is among those that have been cherished ever since it was unveiled during the Enies Lobby arc. This revelation instantly turned Robin into a beloved character among fans.

The background story of Trafalgar was unveiled in Dressrosa, making his character even more compelling and generally considered among the saddest.

Among the many backstories in “One Piece,” Oden’s is often praised as the finest, and when it comes to new additions, Kuma ranks high. This fascinating tale was unveiled in Egghead, leaving fans astonished. It swiftly gained popularity among fans, even before it receives full animation.

Surprisingly, among all the cherished tales in One Piece, none caught me off guard quite like the backstory of Señor Pink! Now, don’t get me wrong, he wasn’t a leading figure in our favorite manga series, but rather served as Franky’s adversary during the Dressrosa arc.

Given this, it’s safe to say that fans didn’t anticipate him harboring a heart-wrenching past. In fact, many of us had a good laugh at his unique design without knowing the story behind it. But boy, did that change when we delved into Señor Pink’s past!

2015 saw me, the creator of One Piece, unexpectedly disclose that I initially had no intention of unveiling Senor Pink’s backstory within the manga. However, my editor at the time found such a profound connection with the narrative I had penned for this character, that it ultimately led to its inclusion in the comic.

If the editor hadn’t found it compelling enough, the backstory might not have been fully developed and could have been only hinted at in sidebars or subplots, or not included at all. The impact of a few words couldn’t compare to the depth that a full-fledged backstory provides, so it was certainly a wise decision to incorporate it into the comic book.

Indeed, it turned out that the chapter delving into Señor Pink’s past resonated strongly with readers, as they might not have fully understood his character without this background information.

It leaves fans curious as to how many other characters might have had stories developed but never included in the comic series.
