Oblivion Remastered player gets flung in jail for 20 million days just for some petty crime

The longest known prison term ever served was nearly 71 years; Charles Foussard, who took a life and stole boots in 1903, spent this length of time behind bars before passing away at the age of 92 within prison walls. On the other hand, in Oblivion Remastered, player Scribe_Of_Satire was sentenced to an astounding 55,284 years, equivalent to 20,178,790 days.

Our friends at GamesRadar came across a remarkable post about a complex prison sentence shared by Scribe_Of_Satire on the Oblivion subreddit.

To anyone wondering what’d happen if you went to jail with a bounty of over 2 billion, here ya go! from r/oblivion

Before the police apprehended them, our daring burglar had accumulated a vast fortune exceeding 2 billion gold coins. This was achieved not through force or violence, but by subtly taking valuable items. The most astonishing aspect of this crime wave is that they never entered private property without permission, didn’t harm anyone, didn’t take lives, and only once took something from someone’s pocket. They primarily focused on stealing directly from others rather than resorting to petty theft like pickpocketing.

But they also stole over a million items. Which is quite a spree.

55,000 years ago, the Earth was in the midst of its last glacial cycle, also known as the last ice age, and Neanderthals were still roaming. Unfortunately, Bethesda didn’t design their game to simulate time that accurately, so serving a prison sentence won’t result in you stepping out of your cell into a world teeming with new species or 20-meter-tall argonians ruling Tamriel. Your aspirations of witnessing such fantastical creatures will remain unrealized.

Scribe_Of_Satire found that prolonged imprisonment seemed to cause a sort of ‘hiccup’ in the Tamriel calendar. Upon their release, it was the 5th day of Morning Star, 3E -9,818. It appears Bethesda may have missed a few digits, and no matter how much time passes, one can never escape the third era.

It seems that this type of crime wave doesn’t have many drawbacks, except for the potential loss of abilities.
