Unlike before, you won’t be required to collect numerous smithing stones or rely on a blacksmith to maintain your arsenal. Instead, it seems like there’s an alternative, intriguing approach!
In this updated version, weapons have been categorized based on rarity: common (white), uncommon (blue), rare (purple), and legendary (gold). To advance your weapon’s level, you will still require smithing stones; however, the system has been simplified to align with the quicker-moving gameplay of our roguelite genre. Instead of numerous variations, there are now only two upgrade options available.
Where To Find Smithing Stone (1)
To enhance a standard weapon, you require an individual Smithing Stone (1). Generally, you’ll find these in hidden chests, or alternatively, you can purchase them outright from vendors for 6,500 Runes.
In places like camps, forts, churches, or castles is where merchants tend to gather. However, should you fail to locate one in Limveld, rest assured that there will always be a merchant and a smithing station prior to encountering each Nightlord.
Where To Find Smithing Stone (2)
If you aim to enhance an unusual weapon into a rare one, you’ll need a Smithing Stone (2). A great method for obtaining this is by delving into a mine shaft. You can identify these locations on your map using the symbol of a tunnel entrance.
Within, there are a handful of knights and miners, but you should be able to dash past them with relative ease. The objective here is the central giant troll mini-boss, who undoubtedly will drop a Smithing Stone (2).
In some instances, you might even obtain a Smithing Stone (2) from spectral entities known as red phantoms, which represent deceased players originating from alternate realms.
In this game, it isn’t possible to advance your weapons from being rare all the way up to legendary. Instead, the rarest level you can reach is this one. However, by strategically using the right Relics to enhance your initial equipment, you can significantly tilt the odds in your favor when facing a Nightlord.
How To Upgrade Weapons
After gathering the necessary smithing stones, you should look for a place to work on them, which is typically called a smithing station or anvil. You will usually find these near a merchant, and there’s always one available just prior to encountering the Nightlord.
You need to be level three to use rare gear, level seven for epic, and level ten for legendary.
As a gamer, I found myself face-to-face with a table, and lo and behold, it presented me with an upgrade menu! Here’s the catch: no Runes are needed for enhancements, only the necessary smithing stones.
