  • During a recent livestream revealing new PureArts AC statues, one of the hosts said that “there’s something going on with [Black Flag protagonist] Edward,” citing that as the reason his statue will be revealed at a later date.
  • The Black Flag remake may launch in 2026.

More proof suggesting a potential remake of “Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag” has emerged online, this time from an unanticipated source – a livestream by a collectibles company. Given these latest findings and other recent occurrences, it seems likely that an announcement for the “Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag” remake may be forthcoming.

It appears that a contemporary update or reinvention of the highly popular fourth installment in Ubisoft’s renowned series has allegedly been under development since the early 2020s. There have been whispers about a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag for quite some time now, with the first substantiated claim surfacing in June 2023 via Kotaku. In October of the following year, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson uncovered this project under the secret name “Obsidian.

Ever since then, hints suggesting a remake of the game “AC4: Black Flag” have been piling up, the latest being an uncommon product demonstration by PureArts, a Canadian collectible maker who often works with Ubisoft. During a live stream presenting their new Assassin’s Creed figurines, one host mentioned the conspicuous absence of Edward Kenway, the main character from “Black Flag“, and in a mysterious tone said: “It is important for you to know that there seems to be something happening with Edward.

New PureArts Edward Statue Will Seemingly Be Based on the Black Flag Remake

After the second host inquired, “Has it been made public yet?”, the first one responded, “I believe so.” However, as a matter of fact, the announcement about that particular topic has not been made yet. From then on, the hosts provided minimal additional information. They did, however, clarify that Edward’s statue was missing from the lineup due to an unspecified development, which will be disclosed at a later time. “There will be changes related to Edward, and our 1/8 scale PVC statue will mirror those adjustments,” one of the hosts summarized. For your information, PureArts is a long-standing partner of Ubisoft that has created Assassin’s Creed statues for each main series installment—and some spin-offs—even before this recently unveiled product lineup.

Black Flag Remake May Launch in 2026

In late 2024, Insider Gaming stated that the remake of Black Flag was initially planned for a 2025 release; however, it was internally pushed back due to alleged scheduling changes with AC Shadows moving from a late 2024 launch to early 2025. If these delays are due to scheduling adjustments rather than development issues, the Black Flag remake might still be on schedule for a release within a similar timeframe.

As a die-hard fan, I’m excited to share that there seems to be an upcoming development with Edward. Our exquisite 1/8 scale PVC statue is set to capture this change perfectly, mirroring the essence of the character in a unique and captivating way.

Originally scheduled for November 15, the game “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” set in Japan, had to be delayed twice, finally premiering on March 20. If this timeline change caused the original release of “Black Flag” to move out of 2025, it implies that the remake was aiming for a late 2025 debut and could now potentially launch in the first half of 2026.
