In the thrilling world of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, I found myself utterly captivated by episode 8! Everything That Happened in Episode 8
The Arrival of a New Hero

The story opens with Koichi pursuing a thief, only to end up being kicked into an oncoming vehicle. Luckily, a superhero arrives mid-flight to intervene and apprehend the criminal. Once Koichi is safe, he expresses his gratitude towards this hero and inquires about his identity. This leaves the hero taken aback, at which point he reveals himself as Captain Celebrity – one of America’s most renowned superheroes. In an unexpected move, he scribbles his autograph on Koichi’s prized All Might jersey, much to Koichi’s displeasure.
Trigger Continues to Cause Chaos

Out of nowhere, an enormous creature, reminiscent of a kaiju, emerges and wreaks destruction. Its black tongue and Hachisuka’s presence suggest that this monster has been infected with Trigger. While Koichi was aiding in the evacuation, he observed a young girl reluctant to depart due to someone being left behind. Just then, Captain Celebrity shows up, but refuses assistance from Koichi because the press hasn’t arrived yet, demonstrating that he might not be the selfless hero we think.
In this scenario, Koichi independently attempts to rescue a person named Masahiko, but unbeknownst to him, it ends up being a dog instead. However, Koichi treats the animal’s rescue with the same level of importance as a human one. As events unfold, the media arrives on the scene, and the authorities seek help from Captain Celebrity. With apparent effortlessness, he defeats the monster and also manages to save Koichi who was in danger of being crushed by the monster’s falling body.
Captain “Catastrophe” Celebrity

As a huge fan, let me spill the beans: Captain Celebrity had quite the shady past with numerous lawsuits and scandals. Yet, I can’t help but speculate that he ventured to Japan in search of redemption – an opportunity to leave his tarnished reputation behind and forge a fresh, spotless identity.
Later on, I find myself dashing to rescue people trapped within a structure on the verge of collapse. The need to save two individuals simultaneously leaves me in a bit of a quandary, but Captain Celebrity swoops in and extends his aid. Rather than lifting the heavier sumo wrestler, he opts to carry the fragile young woman instead, delegating the more challenging task back to me. Once more, he demonstrates that his pursuit lies in charm rather than true heroism.
He has lots of achievements, but also lots of issues.
They call him Captain “Catastrophe” Celebrity.
He’s been through so many lawsuits and scandals.
He must have come to Japan for work because he can’t operate in his home country anymore.
– Knuckleduster, Episode 8
The Scandalous Hero Repeats His Mistakes

Following the event, Koichi observes that Makoto is among those encouraging Celebrity, causing him to feel concerned and irritated. As Celebrity begins to flirt with Makoto and proposes a date, Makoto views it as strictly a professional gathering. Troubled by this, Koichi, accompanied by Pop, decides to keep tabs on her, only to be discovered by Celebrity. During their meal, Makoto comes across news about a bank robbery and proposes they address the issue, but Celebrity chooses to disregard it in favor of enjoying his “date”.
Makoto gets a call, surprising Celebrity since it was his wife, Pamela, who had been monitoring his activities through Makoto. Instantly spooked by Pamela’s inquiries, he swiftly departs and heads to the bank for work. Upon returning with Koichi, he snaps numerous photos alongside him to prove that the gathering was a professional engagement.
An Unexpected Ending
A New Image for Captain Celebrity

Makoto has a lightbulb moment during her chat with Koichi. She suddenly sees that Celebrity requires a fresh identity, and she proposes an innovative idea for rebranding him. Instead of the usual charming cheerleaders, she suggests young high school students as a more appealing demographic. Moreover, instead of electronic music, she recommends incorporating Japanese chants and taiko drums into his image. This new concept leaves Koichi and his group baffled.
The Arrival of An Unexpected Guest

A while later, Koichi receives an unexpected phone call revealing that his mother plans to come see him. This news fills Koichi with dread, as he worries she might send him back to the countryside if she discovers any issues. His main worry is deceiving his mother about having a girlfriend whom she’d undoubtedly want to meet. When Koichi confides in Pop about his predicament, she flushes, gets upset, and departs abruptly.
A short while passes, and Koichi’s mom shows up, appearing pleased by the tidiness of his room, suggesting he’s leading a decent life. However, her happiness is brief as she quickly inquires about his girlfriend. The story concludes with Koichi looking perplexed, uncertain about how to proceed.
The sneak peek for episode 9 showcases both Pop and Makoto. In what way will Koichi handle this persistent issue? Could it be that he’ll enlist someone to act as his girlfriend, or perhaps reveal the truth?
