Occasionally, the most intriguing hints about films are hidden not within trailers but in toy lines, as is the case with James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie. On July 11th, the iconic character Superman will soar into the sky once more. In the trailer for Superman, there was a quick, almost unnoticeable glimpse of a futuristic plane called the T-Craft, linked to Mister Terrific. However, it was only a brief, zoomed-in shot that could easily be missed. Now, due to McFarlane Toys’ unboxing of their latest Superman collectible series, fans are finally getting a clear view of the T-Craft’s complete design. The T-Craft is included in this collection as a “Collect to Build” bonus item. Alongside it are new action figures featuring Mister Terrific, Ultraman, Metamorpho, Guy Gardner, and, naturally, Superman himself.

Why Does Mister Terrific’s T-Craft Matter in Superman?

The T-Craft Has No Origin In DC Comics

Despite sharing a similar design with his iconic orbs, Mr. Terrific’s T-Craft, as seen in the movie, is an original creation by James Gunn and is not tied to the comic book lore. Typically, Mr. Terrific relies on his T-spheres – metallic orbs used for both attack and defense – even in space battles. A clip from the Superman trailer demonstrates these spheres generating a force field that protects him from enemy fire. The introduction of this new gadget for Mr. Terrific underscores Gunn’s plan to prominently feature him as a key secondary character in Superman. In late December 2024, the director publicly declared his intentions.

It appears that he was exactly the one I desired all along, genuinely so. Mr. Terrific holds a significant place among these characters, as he plays a crucial role in the storyline.

Even though he doesn’t possess superpowers, Mister Terrific is an exceptional technological genius, usually placed third in terms of intelligence within the DC Universe by the Justice Society of America, after Batman and Lex Luthor.
