Kimetsu no Yaiba” anime is approaching its grand finale. The first film in the three-part series titled “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc” will start to portray the culmination of the story, and it promises some epic battles.

As the Demon Slayer team charges into Muzan’s hideout, they’ll encounter some incredibly formidable demons. The first film is expected to show a heart-wrenching clash between Tanjiro and Akaza, culminating in Tanjiro avenging Kyojuro Rengoku’s death. But, the second half of the story takes an unforeseen twist, introducing the strongest demon yet — shockingly, it’s not Muzan.

The Final Arc Has A Huge Plot Twist

In the Infinity Castle Saga, the Demon Slayer Unit launches an attack on the Infinity Castle, a stronghold managed by Nakime and believed to be Muzan’s hidden fortress. Their objective is to locate and vanquish Muzan. Divided into teams, they forcefully enter the castle. Battles of epic proportions ensue, resulting in substantial casualties among the Demon Slayers. However, they eventually manage to corner Muzan. In the meantime, Tanjiro and Tomioka successfully eliminate Akaza, providing some measure of retribution for Rengoku’s death that occurred early in the storyline.

Following Nakime’s unexpected demise, the castle slowly deteriorates. Muzan swiftly departs, leaving the Demon Slayer Corps in hot pursuit. In a secluded location, Nezuko patiently waits for the antidote to work, hoping to transform back into her human state. The Demon Slayers seem poised for victory against Muzan in the climactic battle. However, sensing his impending doom, Muzan employs his last resort — a move that summons the mightiest demon ever witnessed onto the battleground.

The Most Powerful Demon Is Not Muzan

In a moment of despair, Muzan decides to ensure his dreams live on by transforming Tanjiro into a demon, earning him the title of Demon King Tanjiro. With the outside Tanjiro engaging in combat with his companions, the internal struggle for Tanjiro is against Muzan. Muzan attempts to persuade Tanjiro to abandon his human existence and instead accept eternal life as a demon.

At this juncture, Nezuko makes an appearance and lends support to the Demon Slayers as they try to dissuade Tanjiro from surrendering to Muzan. In a struggle, Tanjiro is engaging his former comrades while simultaneously battling Muzan in his thoughts. Thankfully, they administer the antidote to Tanjiro just in time before it’s all over.

How Strong Is Demon King Tanjiro?

It seems that during his temporary demon state, Tanjiro displayed characteristics of a fully transformed demon, yet didn’t complete the transformation before being restored as human. Notably, he exhibited immunity to sunlight, a trait rare among demons in the series. His regenerative abilities were also remarkable, healing at an impressive speed. Moreover, his strength was considerable and he appeared capable of shifting forms, similar to Muzan.

If Tanjiro had fully transformed into a demon, he might have enhanced his powers and possibly gained additional talents. Given his potential, he could have potentially fulfilled Muzan’s aspiration for immortality, but fortunately for the Demon Slayer Corps, they acted swiftly enough to prevent this from happening.

Could The Demon Slayer Corps Have Defeated Demon Tanjiro?

Giyu Tomioka implies that because Tanjiro is immune to sunlight, he likely possesses resistance to the Bright Red Nichirin Swords. Resistance does not necessarily mean the Nichirin blades would fail entirely, but it suggests they might encounter significant difficulties. Given the formidable power Demon King Tanjiro exhibited during his short lifespan, it appears doubtful that the Demon Slayers could have vanquished him if he had fully transformed.

It’s plausible that the formidable Yoriichi might have bested him, given Muzan’s assertion that Tanjiro was significantly inferior to Yoriichi in terms of Demon Slayer abilities. However, since Yoriichi is no longer alive, it was fortunate for the Demon Slayers that they could swiftly administer the antidote and avert disaster.
