In the game Elden Ring Nightreign, every Nightlord presents a formidable test, and each one leaves an indelible impression. Once you’ve defeated Gladius, you are free to confront any of the remaining Nightlords as you progress toward the Night Aspect that governs the advancing darkness. And indeed, the Darkdrift Knight offers a particularly tough challenge.
A centaur named Fulghor, wielding divine power, will mete out punishment to any adversaries who dare to confront him. With the swiftness of a horse and no means of being dislodged, your only hope of defeating Fulghor is by matching his speed.
Darkdrift Knight’s Strengths And Weaknesses
In the battle against the Darkdrift Knight, Fulghor, it’s reassuring that their moveset is relatively predictable, making it simpler to decide on the right equipment for the fight. For instance, given their speed, it would be advantageous to use lighter weapons in this engagement. Furthermore, if you aim to weaken them significantly, carrying Lightning weapons would be beneficial. Although not extraordinarily damaging, Lightning excels in its ability to instantly counter Fulghor’s strongest attacks by neutralizing them.

Weaknesses
- Lighting
To effectively ward off Fulghor, it’s crucial that you enhance both your Affinity and Physical defense mechanisms. In this scenario, you’ll find an abundance of Holy and Slash elements. Since Lighting can help dodge most Holy attacks, it might be more beneficial to prioritize Physical resistance over Affinity if you have to choose between the two.
Recommended Characters
Fulghor moves at an incredibly swift pace, making it virtually unnecessary to include characters with lower speed who tire easily when dodging or running. Given his constant movement, it would be wise to have companions who can match his speed.
Initially, selecting Wydler seems straightforward. They excel in swiftness, and their Greatswords strike a fine balance between speed and damage output. To top it off, the Claw Shot proves useful for locating Fulghor effectively as they dash about the environment.
Functioning as another excellent choice, the Executor’s defensive capabilities are particularly noteworthy, despite not being as swift as Fulghor. They excel at deflecting most incoming attacks, making them an effective tool for wearing down their opponents by deflecting many of their attacks. The Ultimate Art is also a powerful asset, capable of reaching the enemies regardless of their location due to its rapid stance-breaking attacks.
Raider may prove effective under the right circumstances, but it’s challenging to match their pace with Fulghor due to its rapid movement speed. Otherwise, the size of Fulghor could outrun the sluggish Colossal weapons wielded by Raider.
A Revenant might also come in handy due to its low health points. However, it excels at summoning a wide area and acquiring multiple potent Lightning Spells through Sacred Seals. On the contrary, Recluse won’t benefit as much from Lightning magic and struggles with inflicting heavy damage on Fulghor.
Darkdrift Knight’s Moveset
Similar to other Nightlords, Fulghor exhibits a dual form. However, unlike most bosses, its second phase deviates somewhat. This second phase is essentially an escalation of many attacks from the first phase, but due to Fulghor’s physical transformations, it leans heavily on newly acquired abilities.
Apart from the altered actions, Fulghor tends to dash about significantly more during their second stage, so keep in mind that you’ll need to pursue them. Here is a list of their actions along with suggestions for countering them:
This version preserves the meaning while making it more accessible and easier to read.

Phase 1
Attack Description Counter Jumping Slam Fulghor jumps into the air, slamming down with an area-of-effect When you see Fulghor jump, try to dodge before he lands. Running away will put you too far away to do damage. Swipes And Stabs As Fulghor dashes around the arena, he will swipe and stab with his spear, like a Tree Sentinel does. Just dodge into Fulghor to avoid this attack and keep yourself close at the same time. Debris Swipe Fulghor will suddenly stop his spring and dig his spear into the ground to shoot a wave of debris at you. As before, dodge as soon as the speak is lifted from the ground, and try to get closer to Fulghor at the same time. Stomp Fulghor will halt a sprint by suddenly stomping in front of himself, knocking away anyone in front of him. Try to keep to Fulghor’s sides to avoid taking the brunt of this attack. Sword Drag Fulghor will drag his spear as he charges towards you, attacking along the whole length of the animation. Just keep your distance during this attack as its ranged is not too wide. Spear Enhance Fulghor will stand still and charge his spear. If he succeeds, his attacks will gain more power and spears will rise from the ground. Target Fulghor with lightning to instantly cancel him charging this attack, or break his stance with Ultimate Arts. -
Phase 2
Attack Description Counter Rising Swords After a Spear Enhance, multiple spears will rise from the ground across the whole arena. Keep on the move and stay close to Fulghor. Staying still is the most surefire way to get hit. Otherwise you must simply wait for them to disappear. Arm Swipes With his extended second arm, Fulghor will swipe around and in front of himself rapidly. This can be done three times in quick succession. Stay close to Fulghor, mainly to his side. These attacks mainly hit a small degree away from him to catch targets at a distance, making it easier to keep close. Miasma Spread When swinging his arm, a purple miasma will be released that spread on the ground. This damages on impact, as well as if stood in. Like the Arm Swipes, stay close as these tend to happen at a distance from Fulghor. The miasma disappears after a few moments. Miasma Slam Fulghor jumps into the air like his previous Jumping Slam, though hits with a much wider area-of-effect and leaves miasma for a brief moment. For this one, you’ll want to keep away from Fulghor as the area is much wider and harder to dodge.
During the second stage, Fulghor is expected to reduce the speed of its spear attacks and instead use its arm for swipes. This significantly complicates playing a ranged character, so it’s crucial to have a melee backup for this stage.
Tips For Beating Darkdrift Knight

In a battle against Darkdrift Knight, having Lighting is incredibly beneficial, but not absolutely necessary. It swiftly nullifies their Spear Enhance ability, but if all characters are attacking forcefully, you can just as effortlessly disrupt their stance and halt the attack. Therefore, when facing Fulghor, it’s crucial to maintain a close proximity to them.
Feel free to employ your top-tier abilities against Fulghor as well. While they may not be effective in inflicting significant damage, they can effectively make him halt his sprinting spree, giving slower characters such as Raider an opportunity to close the gap and dish out immense harm instead.
