A sneak peek for “My Dress-Up Darling” (also known as “Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru”) has been released, and it’s confirmed that Season 2 will air in July. The original anime was wildly popular when its first season premiered in 2022, leaving fans eager for more ever since.
In the 7th Crunchyroll Anime Awards, the series was nominated in multiple categories, with the goal being to choose the top series of 2022. Regrettably, it didn’t manage to win any awards that year. Instead, “Demon Slayer,” “Attack on Titan,” and “Spy x Family” dominated the ceremony, while “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” was crowned as the anime of the year on Netflix.
When Will My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 Be Released?
The latest video clip airing on Japanese television currently serves as a promotional piece for the upcoming second season of “My-Dress Up Darling”. This new installment is set to debut on July 5, 2025. For the second season, Keisuke Shinohara returns as director and Yoriko Tomita takes on the role of head writer. The original cast members are also reprising their roles in this continuation.
- Hina Suguta as Marin Kitagawa
- Shoya Ishige as Wakana Gojo
The initial season primarily focused on the main narrative spanning from chapters 1 to 39, however, it omitted several aspects of the manga, such as scenes involving Usami – a well-liked secondary character who works at a fabric store. Usami made his debut in chapter 24 of the comic series, but has yet to be featured in the animated adaptation.
The beloved “My Dress-Up Darling” manga came to a close a few months back, leaving many readers disappointed with its conclusion. Many felt the ending was hastily wrapped up – the series had experienced several breaks, leading fans to speculate that author Shinichi Fukuda was struggling with the serialization due to health problems he’d been battling for the past few years. The manga spanned an impressive 115 chapters across 14 volumes.
Where to Watch My Dress-Up Darling?
The initial season of “My Dress-Up Darling” can currently be found on Crunchyroll, offering both subtitled and dubbed versions (in multiple languages). It’s been announced that Crunchyroll will broadcast Season 2 as it airs in Japan, with fans anticipating an English dub later. Given that Netflix Asia often streams popular anime series, it’s likely that the second season will become accessible on Netflix in specific Asian regions.
While an official announcement is yet to be made, fans are anticipating that the upcoming season will consist of approximately 12 episodes, or a single cour. If its pace mirrors the first season, it’s expected to span from the Shizuku Kuroe Part 2 storyline up to the Coffin Arc.
My Dress-Up Darling‘s original manga is published in the US by the editorial branch of Square Enix.
