These Kanto birds made their appearance in Pokemon GO during the 2017 Pokemon GO Fest. The radiant version of Articuno first surfaced in Pokemon GO in 2018, while its shadow form was introduced in 2019. In 2023, the shimmering shadow variant of Articuno was unveiled, and in 2025, both the standard and shiny Dynamax versions of Articuno were presented during the Legendary Flight event. To assist trainers in adding this distinguished character to their squads, Pokemon GO has shared details about the new GO Pass.

Starting on Tuesday, June 3rd at 10am local time, Niantic is introducing a new GO Pass for Pokemon GO players. This pass will be free and automatically added to your account. To advance the pass and unlock rewards, you’ll need to accumulate GO Points. The key advantage of this month’s pass is an encounter with Articuno against a seasonal backdrop, which aligns with the upcoming changes in Pokemon GO. As you level up the pass, you’ll also receive bonuses such as Stardust, XP, Max Particles, Poke Balls, Candy, and more. To aid in your progress towards the pass, from June 28th at midnight to June 29th at 11:59am local time, you can earn an unlimited amount of GO Points!
