Cyberpunk 2077 Fans Think a Second DLC Might Be in Development

Summary

  • Cyberpunk 2077 fans believe Virtuos is developing a second DLC.
  • The studio previously assisted in the development of Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 update.
  • A Virtuos writer who joined the studio in April 2025 has listed Cyberpunk 2077 DLC under their experience before swiftly deleting it.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been keeping an eye on the latest Cyberpunk 2077 news and rumors. Some of us in the community are buzzing after a keen observer spotted potential hints about a second DLC on a developer’s LinkedIn page. Although CD Projekt Red is the primary team behind Cyberpunk 2077, they recently collaborated with Virtuos to enhance update 2.2, adding exciting new features to our beloved RPG. Now, there’s speculation that this partnership might be working on additional content for Cyberpunk 2077. Fingers crossed!

Following the contentious debut of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020, I, as a dedicated fan, was impressed by CD Projekt Red’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the game with substantial upgrades, additional features, and captivating content. This RPG has since earned the title of an all-time classic for many, boasting a “very positive” rating on Steam with close to 750,000 reviews. The studio garnered even more accolades from fans when they unveiled the critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077.

Despite CD Projekt Red repeatedly confirming that Phantom Liberty is the sole DLC expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, some of us, the fans, remain unconvinced after recently uncovered evidence hints at potential additional content.

Cyberpunk 2077 Fans Speculate on Second DLC

In December 2024, Virtuos collaborated on revamping and refining the user interface for the 2.2 update of Cyberpunk 2077. This has sparked discussion among fans that the studio may still be involved with the game, given information found on a developer’s LinkedIn profile. Specifically, a senior writer from Virtuos has noted Cyberpunk 2077 DLC as part of their work experience, but it is interesting to note that this developer only joined Virtuos in April 2025, two years after the release of Phantom Liberty. According to the developer, they “studied existing character voices for Cyberpunk 2077 to guide the writing of their dialogue in several new side quests” and “worked closely with the narrative designer to conceptualize, write, and refine side quests for upcoming DLC releases.”

After initially posting details about their work on Cyberpunk 2077 on LinkedIn, the writer known as Virtuos has since deleted that information, leaving only a statement about having written content for various projects. Some speculate that this could mean a different studio is now handling development of another Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, but it’s important to note that CD Projekt Red has consistently stated they won’t be releasing any more DLC for the game. It’s likely that any new content will simply include some additional gameplay elements or perhaps a small side-quest, rather than a major expansion like Phantom Liberty.

Despite it being highly improbable for another DLC of “Phantom Liberty” scale, CD Projekt Red has proven to surprise fans in the past. Just when players think they’ve seen the last of Cyberpunk 2077, the studio releases another update to keep gamers hooked. As of now, there are no confirmed new updates, but earlier this year, fans were taken aback once more as the studio revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. The RPG is scheduled to release on June 5, coinciding with the console’s launch day.
