  • Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire joins the cast as the AI system E.D.I.T.H.

Marvel Studios persists in producing original Disney+ shows within the MCU, even though the gains might be decreasing slightly. One of the highly anticipated series on the horizon is the spinoff of WandaVision, at present being filmed under the temporary title Vision Quest, and they have recently added a well-known sitcom actor to their cast.

2021 marked the debut of Marvel Studios’ first original series on Disney+, “WandaVision,” which was met with overwhelming success among fans. Many consider it to be the best television show in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), although “Loki” and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” are worthy contenders. As a result, a spinoff titled “Agatha All Along” was released in 2024, with another one, “Vision Quest,” set to follow. Produced by Terry Matalas, who is renowned for his work on popular science fiction series such as “12 Monkeys” and “Star Trek: Picard,” “Vision Quest” will delve into the life of Paul Bettany’s character following the events of “WandaVision.” Now, an actor from the hit show “Schitt’s Creek” is set to join the Marvel Universe for a dose of superheroic antics.

It has been reported that Emily Hampshire, famously known from “Schitt’s Creek”, will join the cast of “Vision Quest” as E.D.I.T.H., an advanced AI defense system created by Tony Stark in case of his demise. Previously, E.D.I.T.H. was a significant character in 2019’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, given to Peter Parker and voiced by Dawn Michelle King. The involvement of E.D.I.T.H. in “Vision Quest” is not surprising, but Emily Hampshire’s casting hints at a larger role for the character in the future.

Schitt’s Creek Star Emily Hampshire Is Joining Marvel Studios’ Vision Quest As E.D.I.T.H.

Previously in Marvel’s series “WandaVision,” the reincarnated, entirely white version of Paul Bettany’s character, Vision, ascended into the heavens following the chaotic events surrounding Wanda Maximoff in Westview, New Jersey. Even the least invested Marvel enthusiasts would recall Vision being slain by Thanos at the end of “Avengers: Infinity War,” due to the Mind Stone embedded in his brow. S.W.O.R.D. pieced together his body and employed some of Wanda’s Chaos Magic to revive him, although he was left without any recollection of his former life. After confronting the Vision crafted by Wanda in Westview using her Chaos Magic, the restored memories of the resurrected Vision were returned, and he soared away.

Information about the main storyline of “Vision Quest” is scarce, but Marvel Studios started filming the series in March, and some intriguing details have been revealed about the show. For instance, two familiar villains will make a return: James Spader’s Ultron from “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and Faran Tahir’s Raza from “Iron Man.” Moreover, T’Nia Miller, known for her roles in “Foundation” and “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” is joining the cast as Jocasta. In Marvel Comics, Jocasta was a complex AI created by Ultron in the late 1970s. Over the years, she has worked with and against the Avengers and had an intricate, on-and-off relationship with the Machine Man.

The situation for “Vision Quest” is progressing rapidly, generating much anticipation. Boasting a principal cast consisting of Bettany, Spader, Miller, Hampshire, Tahir, and the well-loved character actor Todd Stashwick, Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiasts have plenty to be excited about in the coming days.
