Back in early May, I, a dedicated Mortal Kombat fan, was taken aback by the sudden revelation and digital launch of the Definitive Edition of Mortal Kombat 1. On June 4th, during Sony’s State of Play broadcast, American developer Digital Eclipse unveiled that they are extending their line of contemporary fighting game compilations with the announcement of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection. In a bid to keep these vintage games relevant in today’s gaming landscape, Digital Eclipse has revamped several classic versions of the iconic Mortal Kombat series from the 90s and early 2000s. These remastered editions can be played either locally or online with rollback netcode for smooth gameplay experience. Predicting the Release Date and Formats of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection

The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, though yet to announce a specific release date, is anticipated to drop sometime towards the end of this year. Given that Mortal Kombat 1 no longer sees significant updates, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment might be planning to launch the Kollection around October, aligning with the theatrical premiere of New Line Cinema’s Mortal Kombat 2 film. This strategic move could boost sales among movie fans and keep existing Mortal Kombat enthusiasts engaged until updates on NetherRealm Studios’ next Mortal Kombat or Injustice game arrive.
