What Are Mystery Mushrooms Used For in Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma?

In the game Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, there are numerous materials and items to discover, ranging from weapons and gear to upgrade, food recipes to cook, and various gifts. Among these, the mystery mushrooms can be a bit puzzling for players as their in-game description doesn’t provide much information about their purpose. They also behave differently when stacked in the inventory. This may leave players wondering if they should consume or sell these mushrooms, or if there is another use for them. Here’s some insight on mystery mushrooms in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma.

Seriously, What Is the Deal with These Mushrooms?

In the game, these are labeled as “Mysterious Fungi,” but their true nature remains elusive due to lack of identification. It’s uncertain whether they’re edible or not, adding an element of uncertainty for players. Their worth isn’t particularly high, only fetching 10G each. They don’t belong to any specific category, instead residing under the broad label ‘Unknown.’ These fungi tend to appear randomly in your inventory or storage box, and frustratingly, stacks of four, two, or one cannot be combined into a single larger stack.

It has been discovered that these mystery mushrooms are actually harmful to consumers, causing illnesses like poisoning and paralysis if consumed or used in cooking. Fortunately, the illness subsides after a while without any lasting effects, but there’s no benefit gained from eating them. Therefore, it is advisable for players to avoid using them and instead sell them at the Shipping Shed along with their other daily produce. Unfortunately, these mushrooms are sold for a low price as well.

It’s possible that certain wild mushrooms are safe to consume and could even enhance dishes, providing Health Points (HP) and beneficial status boosts. Yet, in my personal encounters, I’ve only experienced adverse effects when incorporating them into meals. So far, I haven’t discovered any context where these mushrooms play a significant role throughout the entire main storyline.

In the current state of my knowledge about the game Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, I don’t believe there are any other uses for mystery mushrooms beyond what is already known. However, if I happen to discover a new use after this explanation has been posted, I will promptly update it and share the fresh information. At present, it would be wise to focus on gathering and consuming anything else available within the game.

How to Get Mystery Mushrooms in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Here, there, and everywhere

You’ll frequently encounter puzzling mushrooms in regions beyond both the autumn and winter settlements. Keep an eye out for these yellow fungi as you venture, as they often sprout around the globe. They can be found growing against cliff sides or near trees. On your map, they are denoted by a mushroom symbol. Rest assured, every mushroom bearing this symbol is indeed a mystery mushroom.

Alternatively, the items can be acquired by overcoming the Flower Mushroom enemies. These are the bulky mushroom adversaries, in case you hadn’t figured it out from their name. From my encounter, these enemies usually drop a mystery mushroom, but on rare instances they haven’t.
