Razer has quietly started to pause the sales of some of its products to the US over tariffs.
According to The Verge’s initial report, Razer halted pre-orders and sales of its latest Blade 16 laptop on their US website. As per the Internet Archive, the laptop was available for purchase on April 1st, but it was taken down the following day after President Trump announced new tariffs.
The public relations manager of Razer, Andy Johnston, did not provide any comments about tariffs when The Verge reached out for a response about the removal.
In the U.S. version of the website, clicking the direct link to the Blade 16 configurator currently leads to a “404 Error” page, but the configurator is still functional on websites for other regions.
Razer, much like other tech titans, maintains crucial partnerships and production sites globally. However, a significant number of these manufacturing locations can be found in China, Taiwan, and Vietnam. These regions have recently felt the effects of President Trump’s newly implemented tariffs.
As a dedicated gamer myself, I’ve got some news: Just like Razer, Nintendo isn’t rushing pre-orders for their upcoming products in the U.S. Last week, they announced they’d be putting a pause on pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2, but they’re still sticking to their June release date. So, keep an eye out for updates!
Based on reports, Nintendo has already amassed an adequate number of Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in the U.S., but potential tariff increases and uncertainties regarding future shipments suggest a likely price increase. At present, the Nintendo Switch 2 retails at $449.99.
