As an enthusiastic gamer, I can’t help but share my excitement about the latest revelation from Bungie! They’ve unveiled the intriguing details about the Runners in the upcoming game, Marathon. Now, I’m eager to learn more about these mysterious figures, their roles, and what they bring to the table in terms of class type.
Six distinct ‘Runners’ will initially launch, as confirmed by Bungie, with four being unveiled during the Marathon Gameplay event.
How Runners Work
Marathon is a multiplayer game that revolves around team-based shooting, in which each player selects one out of six characters (initially) known as Runners at the start. In the storyline of the game, a Runner is essentially an advanced cybernetic soldier who has abandoned their human body for a synthetic casing.
In essence, each character in the game possesses distinct skills and traits that accommodate various gaming approaches. The aim here is to explore the game’s landscape for top-tier loot and make a successful escape or extraction.
Prior to playing, choose a character (Runner), and customize your equipment setup (loadout) with the primary goal being to infiltrate, gather resources, and safely exit the game.
Who Are The Runners in Marathon?
To date, Bungie has verified that six distinct Runners will debut in the game upon its release; however, only four of them have been unveiled so far.
- Locus – Locus is the games “soldier” class who is suited towards players with a more aggressive playstyle.
- Blackbird – Blackbird is the games reconnaissance Runner, who can find where players are and strategically plan your next move.
- Glitch – Glitch is all about disrupting the enemy by pushing forward, compromising them (details to be determined) and getting out.
- Void – Void is the games Stealth class, with active camo and the ability to throw down smokes.
At this moment, it’s undetermined who the other two participants in the marathon might be, but a reasonable assumption is that one of them will likely be a healer type, and another could potentially play a tank or brute role.
