In the realm of “One Piece,” there’s an abundance of thrilling enigmas that leave fans guessing. They know that Oda will continue to unveil more mysteries than they can possibly solve. However, Oda has assured us that every single mystery in the “One Piece” universe will be resolved in the Final Saga. This makes this part of the narrative just as significant as it is.
Additionally, it’s significant to note that this is where each member of the Straw Hat crew will ultimately achieve their dreams, which makes this arc even more extraordinary. Moving on to discuss the Straw Hats, while Oda has revealed many secrets about them, there remains one character whose past continues to be veiled in enigma – none other than Nami. Intriguingly, she might even hail from the Void Century, a notion that seems improbable but could very well be true.
Nami And Her Mysterious Origins In One Piece
- Nami Is From The Oykot Kingdom
- Her True Origins Are Unknown
From what fans have gathered about Nami’s background, it appears that they are only familiar with her life under Bellemere’s care. It was Nojiko who discovered Nami as an infant within the Oykot Kingdom, and later, Bellemere took them both in and decided to raise them. In essence, Bellemere became their mother figure, doing her utmost to provide for them. Despite finding her immediate family at a young age, the mysteries surrounding Nami’s true origins continue to elude us. The identity of her real family, the reasons behind her abandonment in Oykot Kingdom, and her place of origin all remain shrouded in secrecy.
The story was a bit too emotional for the movie. — Oda on removing Nami’s past from Strong World
It’s clear that Nami has a profound and emotional history hidden by Oda, one he initially intended to unveil in Strong World but kept secret instead. While this tale has yet to be told, it could become crucial later on. At minimum, fans understand that her past holds significance for Oda, and eventually, we may learn more about it during the Final Saga of One Piece. This suggests that Nami’s origins might not stem from Earth at all.
Why Nami Might Actually Be From The Moon
Nami Is Connected To The Moon In Many Ways
Nami, a crucial member of the Straw Hat crew, carries an origin story that will cause tremors within the world of “One Piece”. It’s a given among fans that there are still many enigmas surrounding Nami. Some might find her potential extraterrestrial origins from Blue Star far-fetched, but it’s a concept that deserves careful consideration.
It’s worth noting that the creator of “One Piece”, Eiichiro Oda, was greatly influenced by Dragon Ball during his youth to the extent that he refers to Akira Toriyama as a deity. This could potentially offer insight into the possible interstellar elements in Nami’s backstory.
To me, Akira Toriyama is a god. — Eiichiro Oda
It’s not surprising to learn that several of Oda’s characters take cues from Dragon Ball, and one such character is Nami. Interestingly enough, Nami shares some striking similarities with Son Goku. For instance, Nami uses a staff called Climatact, which can be extended and retracted, much like Goku’s power pole. Additionally, Nami has a companion named Zeus the thundercloud, mirroring Goku’s Kinto-un. These resemblances suggest that Oda may have been influenced by Goku when creating Nami.
Regarding Goku, an intriguing aspect of his backstory is that he originated not on Earth but on Planet Vegeta, with a mission to ultimately obliterate our planet. Yet, his upbringing was under the care of Gohan and the events unfolded from there. Nami shares some similarities, although her story has its own twists. It’s plausible that she hails not from Earth but from the lunar world.
How Nami Came From The Moon
It may initially appear strange, but for those familiar with the tales of One Piece, it’s common knowledge that there are people from the moon who eventually moved to the Blue Star. This is evident in Enel’s backstory. On the moon, they built a city called Birka, which they later abandoned. Upon reaching the Blue Star, they established themselves in three different locations. The Skypeians settled in Skypiea, the Shandians settled in Jaya, and the third race chose a Sky Island they named after their original home on the moon, Birka.
Interestingly, creator Oda has mentioned that if Nami were a real person, she would be from Sweden, as revealed in SBS Volume 56. Although this seems unexpected, a closer look reveals that there’s a city named Birka in Sweden, which could potentially unveil Nami’s true background. In essence, Nami hails from the city of Birka, or to put it precisely, her roots can be traced back to the Birkans. It’s plausible that her family originated in Birka and she was born there during the Void Century.
How Nami Time Traveled To The Current Timeline
Nami Is From The Void Century
Though we’ve previously learned that Nami is a Birkan, some readers might still be puzzled about how she hails from the Void Century. The solution to this mystery can be found in a somewhat overlooked detail presented in One Piece chapter 627. In this particular chapter, Nami engages in conversation with Shirahoshi, who unexpectedly remarks that despite only meeting on Fishman Island, it seems as though they’ve known each other for ages. While many readers might dismiss this detail as insignificant, it could carry significant implications, particularly considering that Shirahoshi is the reincarnation of a Mermaid Princess from 900 years ago. If this ancient Mermaid Princess was close to Nami’s parents, especially her mother, it would explain why their offspring share such an unusual connection.
The secret to understanding how Nami came to be in the Void Century lies with the Toki Toki no Mi. It appears she may have been transported to this era due to her extraordinary ability to predict weather patterns more accurately than anyone else, and to guide the future Pirate King (Joy Boy) towards the legendary treasure, One Piece, which was left behind by the previous Joy Boy. Nami arrived in the Oykot Kingdom from 800 years ago, where she was eventually discovered by Nojiko. Her real name, as well as her true background, remain a mystery that will be unveiled during the Final Saga, according to author Oda.
