In an era where gaming is flooded with comforting titles like cozy games and farming simulators, it’s uncommon to find one that truly shines, particularly in Early Access. However, Fields of Mistria manages to do so, boasting a captivating aesthetic reminiscent of 90s shoujo manga and essential features missing from many similar games. Although Fields of Mistria is still in Early Access, it provides players with a wealth of activities, offering more than forty hours of content as per the March 2025 update.
In the tale of Fields of Mistria, the action unfolds in the aftermath of an earthquake in the quaint town of Mistria. With the town leaders seeking aid for its reconstruction, a newcomer is granted a plot of land as remuneration. The protagonist, heeding the call for help, invests their farm’s earnings into revitalizing the town, while also lending a hand with repairs and various tasks. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Mistria harbors profound and ancient magic, and the earthquake has stirred two formidable magical forces that the player must confront.
What Fields of Mistria Offers in Early Access
In the world of Fields of Mistria, the NPCs seem remarkably alive and integral members of a close-knit village society. Engaging with the residents of Mistria, from the town elders to the young ones, offers a rewarding experience on its own. Each resident of Mistria boasts a distinct personality that sets them apart from their peers. Moreover, these characters interact more frequently than NPCs in comparable games. For instance, villagers can be found socializing at the inn every Friday night, where they engage in activities such as playing a unique version of DnD, participating in art and literature clubs, and concocting new drinks and desserts. Yet, this camaraderie extends beyond Friday nights, with characters conversing around town throughout the week, creating an authentic community atmosphere that makes players feel like they belong.
In addition to managing farms, forming relationships, preparing meals, mining resources, fishing, gathering natural produce, and raising livestock, players can also immerse themselves in an encompassing narrative within the game Fields of Mistria, which has been further developed with the March update. Notably, Fields of Mistria incorporates a magic system that aids the player in their farming activities, yet it is also intricately linked to a storyline about the enigmatic dragon statue discovered on the farm. This statue serves as a central piece in the game’s world, Mistria, which boasts remnants of an ancient civilization that revered dragons. Unraveling the mysteries of this civilization and its hidden knowledge is crucial to understanding the riddles concealed within the mines.
Fields of Mistria Launches in 2025
As a fervent admirer, I must say that Fields of Mistria is currently in Early Access, which means there are some features still under development – such as romances, festivals, and additional story content. Yet, the game already offers a wealth of content to explore, including numerous recipes, crops, and animals, with up to level 80 of mines to delve into. The pleasure derived from crafting and adorning the ideal farm is truly rewarding, and given that each day lasts only 12 minutes, it takes patience and dedication to create a masterpiece. Romance possibilities are hinted at through heart events that can reach up to six hearts, although the option for full commitment remains absent for now.
In its development plan, NPC Studios has unveiled that romanceable characters could become eligible for marriage and offspring through interactions with eight and ten heart events. They’re also working on expanding the game with new festivals, mining levels, crops, farm animals, updates for farms and homes, cosmetics, recipes, town repair questlines, spells, mine biomes, museum sets, and additional town vendors. These features might debut in the upcoming major update or upon the official release of Fields of Mistria, scheduled for late 2025. At this stage, Fields of Mistria is accessible exclusively on PC and Steam Deck while it’s still in Early Access.
