Summary
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Origins have surpassed 40 million players.
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows has continued to top sales charts since its release on March 20.
- Next-gen upgrades for Odyssey and Origins are available for free.
Ubisoft has shared that both “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey” and “Assassin’s Creed Origins” have surpassed a remarkable milestone, amassing more than 40 million players each. This significant accomplishment underscores the strong connection these games have formed with fans within the “Assassin’s Creed” series.
Despite not matching the number of players of some other games, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” has been a significant triumph for Ubisoft. Since its launch on March 20, it has consistently ranked at the top of sales charts. Many fans have commended the game for its stunning graphics, captivating narrative, and precise combat mechanics. This development is welcome news for Ubisoft because some of their recent releases haven’t found a large audience. However, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” hasn’t managed to outsell the year’s top-selling game, “Monster Hunter Wilds”.
Just now on Twitter, Ubisoft revealed that over 40 million players worldwide have enjoyed both ‘Assassin’s Creed Origins’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’. Released in October 2017, ‘Origins’ has an OpenCritic score of 85, while ‘Odyssey’, unveiled a year later in October 2018, boasts an equally impressive 84 on the same platform. Interestingly, players who wish to dive into these games now can do so with upgraded versions tailored for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles.
Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey Have Surpassed 40 Million Players
Although Assassin’s Creed often strays from historical truth, a significant segment of its fanbase adores the series due to its dedication to detail and vivid portrayal of history. Moreover, these enthusiasts are often drawn to the games for their stealth elements and exhilarating battles, transforming each fight into an exciting, heart-stopping moment.

It remains uncertain whether “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” will ever reach a comparable achievement in sales, but it has certainly started on a promising note. Although there were initial debates about the game, the narratives of samurai Yasuke and shinobi Naoe seem to have resonated with fans of the series. Players appear to be relishing their experience within the game’s expansive open world and abundant content. The strong sales figures for the latest release, coupled with the announcements of significant milestones for “Origins” and “Odyssey,” have left many gamers hopeful about the future of the “Assassin’s Creed” franchise.
