Summary
- The 5 Elders in One Piece have deadly Yokai powers given to them by Imu, with Garling potentially having a Fenrir form.
- Garling’s Yokai ability may also be a werewolf form, but Fenrir remains the more likely option based on the many connections they have.
- Fans theorize Garling’s power may relate to Norse mythology, with hints of his design and connections to Yokai transformations.
With each chapter that unfolds, the imminent Final War of “One Piece” draws nearer, bringing together the forces of the World Government to engage in a decisive battle against the pirates. This confrontation will ultimately decide the destiny of the world. Among these powerful forces, the most enigmatic are the 5 Elders, also known as Gorosei, who hold the highest positions within the organization, appearing to be at the pinnacle of power on the surface.
Because they possess such great power, these characters have been granted this unique ability by the world’s true sovereign, Imu. This power resembles the Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits from One Piece, enabling them to metamorphose into fearsome entities known as Yokai. The original 5 Elders’ Yokai forms were unveiled on Egghead, leaving fans speculating about what Garling’s transformation might be.
St. Figarland Garling’s Yokai Power May Be Fenrir
The Most Likely Outcome

During the Egghead Island storyline, several significant disclosures were made about the world and its key figures. One of the most striking disclosures was unveiling the names and abilities of the 5 Elders, a revelation that hadn’t been seen in over 1000 chapters prior to this point. These characters possessed powers akin to Yokai, which were previously thought to be associated with special Mythical Zoan fruits but turned out to be inherent abilities instead.
At the conclusion of the storyline, there were suggestions that things might not be as they seemed. This is because Imu managed to take away St. Saturn’s powers from across the world and killed him in the process. This event also marked the ascension of St. Figarland Garling to fill the vacant position. Given that each of the Gorosei appeared to possess unique Yokai powers bestowed upon them by Imu, it’s highly probable that a similar occurrence took place when Garling assumed his role as an Elder.

Given that Imu’s elite soldiers hold the most power within the World Government, it’s not surprising that speculation among fans runs wild about what Garling’s Yokai might be. However, we may have been pondering this question for too long, as Garling could potentially possess the power to transform into Fenrir, the legendary wolf from Norse mythology. There are several indications pointing towards this possibility. One significant clue is the identity of the individual who previously held Garling’s position.
In the real world, Saturn’s moon is called Fenrir, and its resemblance to a crescent moon in Garling’s design might suggest that he wields significant power. Oda often incorporates elements from our world into his stories creatively, which makes this intriguing. Furthermore, the similarity between Fenrir (the Saturnian moon) and the crescent shape of Garling’s hair and beard is striking, hinting at a connection to this celestial body. This is significant because in Norse Mythology, Fenrir is a giant wolf with two sons called Sköll and Hati. Interestingly, Garling also has twin sons named Shanks and Shamrock.
Those who protect scum are lower than the scum they protect!
In ancient Norse tales, Sköll and Hati are depicted as the wolves that control the day-night cycle. Essentially, one wolf pursues the moon to bring about daylight, while the other follows the sun to usher in nightfall. This concept can be likened to Shanks and Shamrock, where Shanks might symbolize Sköll, relentlessly chasing after the sun because he is instrumental in raising Luffy, who is destined to become the next Sun God Nika. By choosing a life of piracy and freedom over the privileged lifestyle of a Celestial Dragon that stands for oppression, Shanks embodies this role.
In this analogy, Shamrock can be likened to Hati, as he pursues the moon, much like Garling represents the moon and embodies the harshness of the Celestial Dragons. This interpretation aligns well with our knowledge about Garling and potential Yokai powers, since Fenrir appears to be the most fitting choice given the established connections, and the other Elders’ powers are based on mythological entities.
An Alternative To What Garling’s Yokai Form Could Be
Another Way Of Looking At It

- The Fenrir ability is the most likely one for Garling.
- However, the alternative, if there even is one, could be that of a werewolf Yokai.
Some people think it’s possible that while Fenrir is the primary shape for Garling’s Yokai power, another werewolf-like form could also be valid. These supporters argue that Garling’s Yokai transformation might manifest as a werewolf, considering the character’s agility and strength that seem to have been highlighted during the God Valley Incident, although this event is rather ambiguous.
While the idea of Garling having a werewolf Yokai seems to draw from the same logic as Fenrir, making Fenrir a more plausible choice instead. Given that each Elder God shares a unique Yokai form, it’s reasonable to speculate that Fenrir is the one Garling summons.
