Bandai Namco has announced a new Digimon game called Digimon Up, coming to mobile devices in 2026. Players will be able to hatch, train, and battle with their Digimon, evolving them from baby Digi-Eggs all the way up to their powerful Mega forms.
A central theme in the Digimon series has always been the strong connection between Digimon and their human partners. This relationship isn’t just built through fighting; it also requires looking after your Digimon by feeding and caring for them. This gameplay element originated with the original Digital Monster virtual pets and was also a key feature in the 1999 PlayStation game, Digimon World. Over the years, Digimon games have become a popular RPG series for Bandai Namco, with Digimon Story: Time Stranger being a recent success. Due to Time Stranger‘s popularity, Bandai Namco has announced a major downloadable expansion planned for release in 2027.
Digimon Up Will Give Monster-Raising Fans Something to Enjoy
Good news for Digimon fans who enjoy raising and training monsters! A new game called Digimon Up was recently announced at Digimon Con 2026. It’s designed to fit into your everyday life and will be available on both Android and iOS devices sometime in 2026. While a specific release date and compatible devices haven’t been revealed yet, Bandai Namco released a trailer showing detailed 2D sprites of Digimon like Greymon and Garurumon battling in 3-on-3 fights. The trailer doesn’t show how battles will actually play out, but it does highlight the unique Digimon companions players can choose from, including popular options like Agumon, Gatomon, and Veemon.

In Digimon Up, you’ll choose a Digimon partner and need to consistently care for it by feeding and training it to help it grow stronger. As your Digimon gains experience, it can Digivolve, transforming into a more powerful form – like Agumon becoming Greymon, then MetalGreymon, and eventually WarGreymon. The game will also feature Digivices and Digimon Cards, though how these will work isn’t yet known. Digimon Up will be free to play, with optional in-app purchases, but it remains to be seen exactly how Bandai Namco will implement pricing.
Bandai Namco Remains Committed to Making More Digimon Games
The launch of Digimon Up is just one way Bandai Namco is continuing to release new Digimon games. Following the success of Digimon Story: Time Stranger and the popular Digimon Beatbreak anime, the Digimon franchise is still going strong. Bandai Namco also offered an update on Digimon Alysion, a collectible card game coming to mobile devices. While Digimon Alysion had a limited test in the summer of 2025, a full release date hasn’t been announced yet. At Digimon Con 2026, the team showed off an updated battle screen with improved visuals and animations, and asked fans to be patient as development continues.
Bandai Namco is consistently releasing new Digimon games, meaning there’s likely something coming up for every fan. But it remains to be seen how Digimon Up will measure up against the most popular Digimon games of the last twenty years.
