A Cinematic Cut of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Will Get the Film Festival Treatment

Today brings exciting news from the realm of creative blending: The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will unveil the first-ever cinema version of the popular game Kingdom Come: Deliverance II at its premiere.

During the yearly festival that occurs in the Czech Republic, the screening will be shown in a dedicated section called “Special Screenings” at 7:00 PM on July 9, specifically at Kaiserbad.

The artistic director of the festival, Karel Och, expressed his gratitude for collaborating with leaders in their respective fields on this distinctive project. This collaboration signifies an exceptional addition to our ongoing mission to showcase compelling narratives told in a distinctively innovative way.

At 3:30 PM this festival day, I’m thrilled to catch the Kaiserbad discussion featuring none other than Daniel Vávra and Petr Pekař, two brilliant minds from Warhorse Studios, the creators of my favorite game!

Martin Frývadlský, CEO of Warhorse Studios, expressed his long-held desire to bring Kingdom Come: Deliverance II to the big screen. He believes that the compelling tale of a blacksmith’s son will resonate with film audiences and hold its own against global cinematic productions. With pride, he and his studio team are eager to debut their years-long project at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival for the first time.

As stated in the festival description, the movie’s summary hints at an epic tale set in the Kingdom of Bohemia during the year 1403. “The kingdom is in turmoil,” it explains. “With invaders ravaging this unprotected land, spreading fear and terror, Henry from Skalitz desires revenge for his slain family. Having become a dependable servant to the rightful king’s supporters, he is assigned to accompany Sir Hans Capon on a diplomatic assignment. After they are attacked and come close to death, these two young men set out on a dangerous journey filled with challenges, testing their abilities, personalities, and friendship.

Karlovy Vary International Film Festival takes place July 4-12 this year.
