A Dedicated Zelda Fan Recreated Hyrule from A Link Between Worlds in Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

A dedicated fan of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has impressively rebuilt the game’s Hyrule world inside Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. The Legend of Zelda series has been a cornerstone of Nintendo since the 1980s, with over twenty games telling the stories of Link and Zelda. Although most Zelda games feature a new iteration of Link, the series has sometimes explored direct sequels, such as A Link Between Worlds and Majora’s Mask.

Throughout the many Zelda games, Nintendo frequently redesigns the world of Hyrule. This iconic kingdom appears in almost every game, evolving over a vast timeline spanning thousands of years. While each version of Hyrule is unique, familiar places like Hyrule Castle, Death Mountain, and the Temple of Time often return. Now, a dedicated Zelda fan has lovingly rebuilt one of the most memorable Hyrule maps inside the game Rollercoaster Tycoon 2.

Zelda Fan Recreates A Link Between Worlds’ Hyrule in Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

A Reddit user named lilac-opal recently shared their impressive creation with the Rollercoaster Tycoon community: a detailed recreation of the Hyrule Kingdom from A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds. Using the game’s building tools, they’ve recreated iconic locations like Hyrule Castle and Kakariko Village, including the major temples found in the games. They even shared a link to the map files so other fans can explore and use their version of Hyrule.

Someone has recreated the world of Hyrule from the classic game A Link to the Past within Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. A Link to the Past remains a fan favorite in the Zelda series, and has been re-released on multiple consoles. Nearly twenty years later, A Link Between Worlds revisited this same Hyrule, set centuries after the original game. Even the Link from A Link to the Past returned in a new adventure, Link’s Awakening, which sent him to the enigmatic Koholint Island.

A Link Between Worlds Paved the Way for Future Zelda Games

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds revitalized the classic Hyrule setting with innovative gameplay. Utilizing the 3D features of the Nintendo 3DS, the game let Link merge into walls to overcome barriers and offered a new ‘item rental’ system. This allowed players to tackle dungeons in a more flexible order by temporarily borrowing key items. This non-linear approach to gameplay influenced later Zelda games on the Nintendo Switch, which fully embraced a more open-world style.

The future looks incredibly promising for the Legend of Zelda series, as Nintendo isn’t afraid to try fresh and innovative ideas. This year’s The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom marked a major milestone by letting players control Zelda as the main character, and introduced a new crafting system for battles and puzzles. The recently released Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment also offered a unique take on the story of Tears of the Kingdom, sending Zelda back in time to a historical conflict. With each new game, Nintendo continues to evolve The Legend of Zelda, giving fans plenty to look forward to.
