A gag in Skyrim’s Switch 2 trailer sends The Elder Scrolls 6 hopefuls into copium fits once reserved for Silksong fans: “We are cooked. Like, double deep-fried levels of cooked”

The release of Hollow Knight: Silksong is a welcome distraction, allowing us to take a break from the constant speculation surrounding video game news. However, it seems that The Elder Scrolls 6 fans have already found a new theory to fuel their hopes for a release date, despite a lack of concrete information.

Skyrim was released again yesterday, this time for the new Switch 2 console. The launch was promoted with a strange live-action trailer featuring an elf at the North Pole who accidentally erases the entire Christmas wish list while distracted by a… less-than-festive read. Another elf jokingly suggests giving everyone Skyrim on Switch 2 as a Christmas gift. And, inexplicably, Skyrim Grandma makes an appearance!

Everyone loved the second elf’s idea, and the game celebrated with a funny nod to Skyrim. As his speaking skill improved to 27, he quickly reached level 20. But here’s the interesting part: 27 plus 20 equals 47! Some fans believe this is a hint that The Elder Scrolls 6 could be released in 2047!

You’re probably thinking this sounds far-fetched, and I agree! However, the Elder Scrolls 6 subreddit is currently flooded with posts about a possible hint, and the community is getting incredibly excited – almost as much as they did during the “Silkposting” craze, which wasn’t that long ago. It’s quite a reaction, to say the least.

I initially thought the posts about a potential 2027 reveal were just jokes, but it seems many people are actually taking it seriously. One person pointed out that ’27 is a strangely specific number,’ while another believes it ‘might actually mean something,’ noting a connection to level 20 and a speech boost to 27.

Someone estimated there’s only a 5% chance of a realistic release date being announced between 2026 and 2030, and just a 1% chance of another specific number being mentioned. Considering either number could come first, the overall chance of that particular combination happening is only 0.1%.

They continued without pausing, explaining that while most Skyrim characters level up with smaller increases, like between 5 and 30, the odds of getting a level up with such a large jump are still incredibly low – practically zero. They also speculated that a small speech skill increase might suggest a delayed in-game year, but admitted this was just a guess.

Despite a lot of worried reactions, some people are staying realistic. One user jokingly described others as being overly concerned, saying they were “completely and utterly done for.”
