A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 4 Gets a New Release Date

Similar to shows like Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms releases new episodes every Sunday on HBO. However, this week there’s a change: instead of a new episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, HBO will be airing Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks on February 8th at 6:30 PM Eastern Time.

To make sure the new episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms starts on time, HBO has moved up the release date for Episode 4. Unlike with Game of Thrones, where episodes were sometimes delayed to avoid holidays, HBO is actually releasing this episode two days early.

When Does A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 4 Come Out?

To avoid going up against the Super Bowl this Sunday, the fourth episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be available to stream on Max starting Friday, February 6th at 12am Pacific Time / 3am Eastern Time. If you prefer to watch on TV, the episode will still air on HBO on February 8th at its usual time of 7pm Pacific Time / 10pm Eastern Time.

Okay, so looking at how much of George R.R. Martin’s The Hedge Knight they’re fitting into A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, I’m pretty sure Episode 4 is going to show Aerion officially challenging Dunk to a Trial of Seven, and then Dunk scrambling to find the six knights who will fight for him. Knowing how quickly these episodes move – they’re usually around half an hour – I doubt we’ll actually see the trial happen in Episode 4. It feels like they’re building towards a big finish, so I’m guessing Episode 5 will be where the real action goes down – the Trial of Seven itself will likely be the season’s climax!

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Only Has Three Episodes Left

After a strong start, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is already proving to be a more successful spin-off than House of the Dragon. However, with the release of Episode 4, the first season is now past the halfway mark. Since the original Dunk and Egg stories are quite short, it’s impressive that the show has managed to create such a compelling six-episode season, especially with the added new content.

Given the length of The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight, seasons 2 and 3 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will likely each have six episodes, around 30 minutes long. While there aren’t any more published novellas after The Mystery Knight, George R.R. Martin has shared outlines with the show’s writers for future Dunk and Egg stories, covering their entire lives. This means the show could continue beyond season 3, unless Martin writes another novella before A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 3 finishes airing.
