A New Ninja Surpasses Sasuke Uchiha and It Isn’t Naruto!

This article contains spoilers from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.

Summary

  • Sasuke lost his Rinnegan in Boruto, and never fully utilized his Six Paths powers.
  • Boruto Uzumaki has surpassed a nerfed version of Sasuke and has learned powerful abilities.
  • It is unclear if Sasuke will return stronger, but there is potential for growth in the storyline.

The animated series “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex” has introduced a host of potent characters, with the latest power source becoming stronger than ever and fresh antagonists appearing who seem almost unbeatable. Fans have been delighting in the progression of the storyline, particularly the introduction of new powerful figures, a aspect that fans have been eagerly anticipating since the era of “Naruto”.

In the past, characters like Sasuke and Naruto were regarded as the most powerful figures. However, times have significantly shifted in the Boruto series, with Sasuke Uchiha no longer holding the title of the strongest. Instead, several other shinobi have surpassed him, and one of them is frequently showcased – none other than his student, Boruto Uzumaki.

How Sasuke Got Nerfed In Boruto

  • Sasuke Lost His Rinnegan
  • Sasuke Never Made Use Of All Six Paths Powers

As a spectator, I must admit, I’ve found myself quite puzzled by the portrayal of beloved characters like Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha in the Boruto series. Initially, it was evident that they weren’t the main focus, which is understandable given the new generation. However, the manner in which their roles have been redefined and certain aspects of their powers seemingly sidelined has left fans scratching their heads.

I’m the strongest in the world now. Nobody can stop me! — Sasuke Uchiha

Fans were astonished to find that Sasuke Uchiha didn’t get a proper fight or significant moment in the series, unlike Naruto who battled characters like Delta and awakened Baryon Mode before losing Kurama. Instead, Sasuke was overlooked and had his Rinnegan removed without any prior time to prepare. In essence, he wasn’t given the opportunity to shine as much as Naruto did.

In addition to this, there have been other limitations placed on Sasuke Uchiha in the Boruto series that are worth noting. For example, he hasn’t demonstrated the use of his Rinnegan abilities beyond Amenotejikara or creating portals. The full range of Six Paths Powers, which are what make him virtually unbeatable, have been largely absent from the story. Consequently, it isn’t surprising that Sasuke has been outshone in Boruto, as it appears the author hasn’t given him the recognition he deserves.

Why Boruto Uzumaki Is Stronger Than Sasuke Right Now

Boruto Has Learned Many Powerful Abilities

It’s clear that Boruto Uzumaki has surpassed the toned-down version of Sasuke without a doubt. Although Sasuke at his best is still more powerful, the post-battle against Isshiki Sasuke appears weaker compared to Boruto Uzumaki. This shouldn’t surprise anyone since Boruto was trained by Sasuke and also received assistance from Kashin Koji in mastering various techniques across different timelines. Currently, Boruto possesses the strength to match Jura, which undeniably means that he is stronger than the current iteration of Sasuke.

Will Sasuke Return Stronger?

At the moment, it’s uncertain if Sasuke will acquire new abilities, but it’s undeniable that there are avenues for him to become even stronger. It’s possible that we might see Sasuke reappear in “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex” shortly, following the defeat of Hidari. If this occurs, he could reach a new level of power, assuming the writer chooses to develop his character further.

In two years, on June 20, 2025, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will release its chapter 23! The chapter drops at 10 AM EST or 3 PM UTC. As usual, enthusiasts can enjoy a free, legitimate read of the chapter through Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
