Even after all these years, the charm of The Sims 4, released in 2014, continues to draw me back in.
In 2025, the gaming industry celebrated a remarkable milestone as the The Sims franchise turned 25. The occasion was filled with exciting activities and the release of two special collections: The Sims and The Sims 2 Legacy Collections, designed for modern PCs. Alongside these remakes, Electronic Arts (EA) has been busy developing additional content for existing games, as well as working on a secret project that might just redefine what we expect from the next iteration of this beloved series.
Despite the knowledge that EA wasn’t working on The Sims 5, there remained a glimmer of expectation. The Sims Franchise Is Getting a Multiplayer Spin-Off
The lack of a release for “The Sims 5” at present is because Electronic Arts (EA) aims to avoid making players discard all their purchases and constructions from “The Sims 4”. EA believes this wouldn’t be fair to players, given the extensive number of content expansions they’ve launched for “The Sims 4” over the past decade. Miele further mentioned that the upcoming multiplayer platform is in development alongside a significant upgrade to the core game’s technology and user experience.
Miele held many secrets close to heart, yet hinted at exciting developments for fans of The Sims in the spin-off. Even going so far as to confirm that the new project will include a mobile version. Although some enthusiasts might feel let down by EA not announcing a fresh core Sims game, the developer is reassuring fans that upcoming projects aim to establish an “environment” and a “multiverse of various Sims experiences.
