A surprising spin-off of Resident Evil 2, titled Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot, has emerged, though it can currently only be played on a solitary test machine in the UK. The 1998 release of Resident Evil 2 continues to be a highly-regarded title within the enduring series, and its 2019 remake has garnered widespread acclaim from both devoted fans and newcomers. This latest installment is generating significant excitement among enthusiasts; however, only a privileged few will have the opportunity to experience it firsthand.
Back in 2024, I was thrilled to learn that the remake of Resident Evil 2 had set a new record as the top-selling game in the survival horror franchise, surpassing even Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7 with an impressive 14 million units sold. The game received widespread critical praise upon release, garnering acclaim for its engaging gameplay and faithful recreation of the 1998 original. It even won the prestigious Game of the Year award at the Golden Joystick Awards in 2019. As a die-hard fan, I was overjoyed to hear that more Resident Evil 2 content had been released, and now, we can all immerse ourselves in the latest iteration of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield’s adventure. The catch? To truly experience it, you’ll need to find yourself in a very particular location.
A fresh video from IGN showcases the thrilling gameplay that enthusiasts can anticipate in the upcoming arcade title “Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot“, which is currently playable only at a single Namco Funscape arcade machine situated in Romford, England’s southeast. The game appears to be based on the 2019 remake, and while it’s still under development, players can advance through two episodes, with the remaining three being restricted. Using a light gun, gamers can battle hordes of zombies within Raccoon City Police Department. Notably, this is the first time the “Resident Evil 2” remake has been introduced to an arcade cabinet, and it’s undetermined whether it will expand to additional locations or be taken down from Romford.

This upcoming mobile game, titled “Resident Evil Survival Unit”, is set to release later in 2025. In this game, you’ll encounter characters from past survival horror series installments returning to the scene. You can form teams of three characters, each with their unique strengths and weaknesses. Among those announced so far are Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, and Alyssa Ashcroft.
In June, fans were given a sneak peek at “Resident Evil Requiem,” the upcoming main installment of the series. Set for release in February 2026, this game will focus on Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from “Resident Evil Outbreak.” In the game, she delves into an abandoned Raccoon City and confronts horrifying creatures in a thrilling single-player journey.
