A New Wolfenstein Game Could Be On The Way

It appears that Bethesda could be ready to revisit the Wolfenstein franchise with a new game.

A new report from Windows Central’s Jez Corden suggests Bethesda is planning a major celebration for its 40th anniversary. Along with potential revivals of classic ID Software series like Quake and Hexen, there’s a chance we’ll see something significant from one of Bethesda’s long-running franchises.

James Corden says he’s heard that a third Wolfenstein game is in development. This new game might be released around the same time as the Wolfenstein TV series coming to Amazon.

I first heard about this show way back in June 2025, but honestly, they didn’t tell us anything about what it’s even about or when it might actually come out. It was just a heads-up that something was happening!

It hasn’t been officially announced which studio is developing the new Wolfenstein game. However, MachineGames has been involved with the last five games in the series, and they recently hinted at what’s next for the franchise.

Game director Jerk Gustafsson revealed in a documentary released last September that the Wolfenstein series, which started with the 2014 reboot, was originally intended to be a three-game story.

He explained that they’d always envisioned the game as a three-part story. Even during the early planning stages at id Software, when they were developing the first game, ‘New Order,’ they already had a clear idea of what would happen to the main character, B.J., in both the second and third installments.

I want to make it clear that we’re not finished with the Wolfenstein series. We still have more stories we want to explore.

The most recent Wolfenstein releases were the spin-off game Youngblood and the VR title Cyberpilot, both of which came out in 2019. Before that, the last major installment, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, launched in 2017.
