A Simple Tweak Makes Early Red Dead Redemption 2 Cutscene Extremely Silly

A fan of Red Dead Redemption 2 discovered a way to alter the game’s cutscenes, creating some hilarious results. While Red Dead Redemption 2 already has its funny parts, this is a surprising trick players have found that the game’s creators probably didn’t anticipate.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered a classic game thanks to its engaging story and overall gameplay, but especially because of its amazing level of detail. Even years after its 2018 release, players are still finding new things within the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Cutscene Change Gets the Community Laughing

I saw this crazy thing on Reddit the other day! Someone figured out how to mess with a cutscene in Red Dead 2. It’s during the “Who the Hell is Leviticus Cornwall?” mission, you know, the train robbery one where you’re riding with the gang through the snow. Normally, it’s just a cinematic view of everyone on horseback. But this player timed it perfectly and got Arthur to dismount right before the cutscene started. So instead of riding, Arthur just starts running alongside the horses the whole time! It’s hilarious and totally breaks the scene in a cool way.

Players are getting a good laugh out of seeing Arthur run through deep snow while other characters ride horses. This unusual choice also affects the game’s behavior – sometimes characters will slow down to wait for Arthur, and other times they’ll bump into him as they pass. Though it takes some precise timing, players can use this trick during several scenes where Arthur is supposed to be on horseback.

The way cutscenes are handled in Red Dead Redemption 2 has led to some funny moments during regular gameplay. One player, while riding as John Marston, accidentally crashed his horse through the window of a saloon where Sadie was waiting. In most games, being near a cutscene trigger would play a normal, pre-planned sequence, like Marston walking through the door. But RDR2‘s system immediately started the conversation with Sadie, who asked a still-prone Marston to sit down – which he automatically did after getting up! If GTA 6 uses a similar system, it will be interesting to see players discover ways to create unexpected and humorous cutscene glitches.
