The classic Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic wasn’t the only one planned for a remake. Reports now indicate that its sequel, Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, was also being developed as a new version.
Stephen Totillo recently discussed the Nintendo Switch release in his GameFile newsletter. He explained that a planned console version of the Restored Content Mod was cancelled due to legal issues – Disney’s lawyers reportedly prevented its release.
The issue preventing the release of the Restored Content DLC on Switch was a requirement for confirmation of who originally created the mod. As reported by Totillo, this was a complete obstacle, and an official announcement regarding the DLC never happened in 2023.
While investigating the reasons for the game’s delay, Totillo discovered that Aspyr, the developer, was already working on a separate project. This project, internally known as Juliet, was a complete reimagining of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, built with modern technology.
This remake, it’s said, was in development as recently as March 2025.
