Not surprisingly, this is a second-tier team that needs to play numerous matches, just to make it to significant events like the prestigious Majors.

Tier Two BC.Game Could Break the CS2 Record for Most Official Maps Played in a Year

By mid-March alone, the seasoned European squad representing BC.Game has competed in a staggering 107 professional Counter-Strike matches in 2025. BC.Game, an online crypto casino platform, entered the competitive CS2 scene during the summer of 2024. During the second part of that year, they played 94 maps, but they’ve already surpassed that figure this year, doing so in significantly less time than before.

107 official matches have been played in total so far, which averages to over 1.55 matches per day. To a casual player, this might not seem significant, but it’s important to remember that these are just official tournament or qualifier games. The number doesn’t account for the countless hours dedicated to practice, scrimmaging, and traveling. In 2024, the team with the highest count of official maps played was Polish team Permitta, who clocked in at a staggering 467 matches. However, if BC.Game maintains its current pace, they could surpass 500 official matches played before the year’s end.

Lower-tier teams such as BC.Game are often required to compete in more rounds of Counter-Strike than top-ranked teams like Team Spirit. For instance, Team Spirit, this year’s Major champions, have played just 35 maps, which is less than a third of the total number of matches that BC.Game has played so far. Tier two teams including BC.Game usually need to qualify through open tournaments to participate in prestigious CS2 events because they don’t receive direct invitations to playoffs or later stages based on Valve rankings. Even legendary teams like Fnatic, who were once the powerhouse of Counter-Strike a decade ago, had to compete in seven best-of-three series over the last two days.
