The Interloper Rewards
The Interloper is a hidden boss that really challenges your expectations of the game. This creature from another dimension feels a lot like the classic, terrifying being, Cthulhu.
These large, strange creatures are covered in tentacles, and in this challenging roguelike game, they can quickly end your attempt.
This guide will walk you through everything you need to defeat this powerful enemy. We’ll cover how to find it, the best strategies for winning, and the rewards you’ll receive. With this information, you’ll be ready to take it on!
Best Path to The Interloper

You’ll find The Interloper in Yeldrim, but you need to complete a few runs to Jaroba first to unlock it. Feel free to explore the path you enjoy most, or you can follow the route I suggest.
I usually begin by defeating the Mushtroll boss to immediately gain a free inspiration ability. You can locate the Mushtroll in the starting area by going to the bottom right and destroying the rock there.

I usually go to fight Gazorg next, as he’s generally easier, and the waterfall nearby has plenty of fish to heal with. After that, to reach the misty area, jump down the side instead of crossing the bridge after leaving Haven – you’ll do that after dealing with Gazorg.
Now, you’ll face the Underking – defeat him soundly, then sail to Yeldrim. Once there, battle your way to the Haven, which offers two different routes you can take.

Head towards the path with the locked gate. When you get there, a character will appear and respond to your questions using gestures. To open the gate, you need to repeat those exact gestures in the same order.
Continue straight ahead until you’ve defeated both the Full-grown and Twisted Horrors. You’ll then enter a large room with star constellations in the middle. Don’t follow the main path; instead, turn left at the statue and keep walking until the screen is empty.
A sound will signal the opening of the magical doorway in the room’s center. Be ready, because you’re about to enter the territory of The Interloper.
How to Beat The Interloper

Even though this enemy is large, the fight isn’t overwhelmingly difficult because it happens in two stages. At first, it will attack with its hands, and then it will switch to using its entire body.
Ignore the flashy attacks like tentacles and eye beams – they deal significant damage. The good news is The Interloper usually doesn’t attack repeatedly, giving you time to heal and prepare.
Phase One

These enemies attack with beams fired from their hands. You can hurt them, but you need to watch both at the same time, or one will likely hit you while you’re distracted by the other.
Below you’ll find a video and a table that covers the attacks used during this phase.
Attacks | Description | Dodge, Deflect, or Clash |
---|---|---|
Laser Summon | A target appears on the ground, then two beams fire on that location. | Dodge |
Hand Beams | Their hands move to either side of the area and fire lasers, then move back across the area. | Jump |
Hand Slam | One hand will hover over your target position and then slap down. | Dodge |
Hand Swipe | One hand will turn the palm toward you while close to the ground, then attack in a swiping motion at you. | Deflect or Clash |
Phase Two

This is when the main monster finally joins the fight. You’ll now face its core, and it will start using some unusual attacks.
Here’s another video and chart to help you, but even with advance warning, this could be a frustrating battle. Be ready for anything and stay alert!
Attacks | Description | Dodge, Deflect, or Clash |
---|---|---|
Laser Summon | They fire lasers into the air, which then spawn a target on the ground one at a time and fire individually on those locations. | Dodge |
Interdimensional Headbutt | They dive into a portal wherever they are, then appear on one side of the area and charge forward. | Deflect or Clash |
Head Spin | They put themselves headfirst on the ground and spin in your direction. | Deflect or Clash |
Cosmic Explosions | They fire cosmic projectiles that burst into a small AoE when they contact something. | Dodge |
Death From Above | They enter a short invulnerability period where they continuously fire lasers the entire duration. Following this phase, they’ll summon two small horrors. | Dodge |
The Interloper Rewards

You have a chance to gain an Inspiration ability, as usual, but only if you don’t already have three. If this is your first time defeating them, you’ll unlock Cosmic Rituals. These rituals can be incredibly strong and useful, but their effectiveness depends on your Luck stat and random chance.
The Interloper makes for an exciting boss battle in this game when playing with others, but trying to defeat them won’t likely help you finish a playthrough. Feel free to fight them whenever you want, though – you’ll always have the chance in future attempts.
