‘Absolutely Useless’ Battlefield 6 Players Aren’t Happy With 1 Gadget in Particular

Players of Battlefield 6 are voicing their complaints about the portable mortar, a weapon that’s unlocked late in the game at level 49. Battlefield 6 launched on October 10th and is playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The team behind Battlefield 6 has announced a major update arriving on November 18th with the California Resistance content. This update will include improvements to how guns handle, especially at longer distances, by adjusting weapon bloom. They’re also tweaking aim assist to feel more like it did during the game’s beta test. While players are excited about these fixes, they’re hoping for even more improvements in the future.

Battlefield 6 Players Think the Portable Mortar Is Bad

A Reddit user named SHARPxSHOOTER recently shared their thoughts on the newly unlocked portable mortar in Battlefield 6. They were disappointed, calling the gadget “absolutely useless.” SHARPxSHOOTER explained that the mortar shells take too long to reach their target, do very little damage, and have a wide spread. While they found it somewhat enjoyable to use, they don’t believe it effectively supports their team.

This isn’t the first time a new gadget in the game has disappointed players. The portable mortar in Battlefield 6 received similar criticism after a video highlighting its issues went viral. Players complained that the smoke shells, meant to create cover and allow teammates to advance unseen, were ineffective. Many felt the smoke clouds were too small to be useful. One player, SHARPxSHOOTER, pointed out that the smoke quickly disappeared and didn’t offer as much protection as a standard smoke grenade.

Many players agreed that the portable mortar isn’t the best Support option in Battlefield 6, suggesting there are stronger choices available. However, some pointed out that it can be effective when multiple players coordinate their attacks. Using several mortars together could overwhelm the enemy better than a single one. Even so, most players think the portable mortar could benefit from increased damage. Overall, fans seem to be having fun with Battlefield 6 and are optimistic about its future.
