Activision Confirms It Recast Black Ops 6 Zombies Actors

As a dedicated fan who’s been following the Call of Duty series since its inception, I must say, this news about the recast in Black Ops 6 Zombies has left me scratching my head like a monkey at a typewriter trying to write Shakespeare!

Activision has confirmed that the actors in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 zombies have been recast.

Following whispers about actors leaving the game due to worries about AI safety, the studio issued a statement addressing these speculations.

An Activision representative stated to Game Developer that they honor the decisions made by these performers. To ensure fairness to everyone involved, we’re choosing not to make further comments about our ongoing discussions with SAG-AFTRA at this time. We eagerly anticipate a resolution that benefits everyone involved as soon as it can be reached.

The current SAG-AFTRA strike began in July over the aforementioned AI protections. It came after “18 months of negotiations” between the union and various studios, including Activision Blizzard. As of writing, there is still no deal.

If you’re curious as to why the game isn’t affected by the strike, it’s due to a provision in the contract. This provision permits union actor members to continue working on games that were already in development prior to the strike being announced. Nevertheless, if a member is under a “daily contract”, the union states they have the option not to renew their agreements.

For some time now, it’s been reported that Activision incorporates artificial intelligence in its game creation process. There are indications of this in the artwork for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, such as a peculiar loading screen depicting a holiday-themed zombie with six fingers. Notably, AI software often encounters problems when designing characters’ hands, but here it seems to have been used nonetheless.
