Activision Shuts Down Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Mod ADay Before Release

As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment and disbelief at the turn of events surrounding the H2M mod for Modern Warfare Remastered. The anticipation had been building like a crescendo, and just when we were about to dive into the nostalgia-filled world of Modern Warfare 2, Activision decided to play the party pooper.

The development of a user-created modification, which aimed to incorporate Modern Warfare 2 content from the 2009 game into Modern Warfare Remastered for PC, has been ceased, due to Activision’s actions.

The H2M mod for Modern Warfare Remastered was scheduled to debut on August 16th, but unexpectedly, the legal team of Activision stepped in and issued a Stop & Request to cease operations one day before the release date.

Today, it was announced on Twitter that our team has been issued a Cease & Desist notice by Activision Publishing regarding the H2M-Mod project. As a result, we will be ceasing all activities connected to the project right away and forever.

The H2M mod was going to add 50 maps to the game along with new attachments and camos for the guns. The mod also included an updated progression system and even Killstreaks from the original Modern Warfare 2.

Recently, there’s been a significant surge in players for Modern Warfare Remastered on Steam, largely due to anticipation surrounding the upcoming release of the mod. In fact, the game has experienced more than triple the daily maximum number of players over the past few days compared to a month ago. Additionally, it has climbed up Steam’s list of Top Sellers as a result of the excitement generated.

Now, it’s likely those players once again turn away from the game with no mod coming.
