Actor Resume Reveals ‘Back 4 Blood 2’ is in Development

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but get excited about the potential return of Back 4 Blood! The clues are stacking up and it seems like Turtle Rock Studios might be brewing something new. I remember the thrill of Left 4 Dead, and Back 4 Blood was a worthy successor that kept me on the edge of my seat.

According to an actor’s resume, it appears that Turtle Rock Studios may currently be working on Back 4 Blood 2.

Initial discovery by mp1st, the information was found on actor Jesse Hutch’s resume, where he has mentioned ‘Gobi 2’ among his motion capture roles. Since ‘Gobi’ was the code name for the original Back 4 Blood game, it’s not too far-fetched to infer that a potential sequel with the title ‘Gobi 2’ might also be underway.

According to mp1st’s observation, it appears that the developers registered back4blood2.com in May 2023, indicating they might be planning an announcement about the project sometime soon.

By February 2023, the creators have shared the news that they will no longer work on new updates or additional content for the game called Back 4 Blood after its initial launch.

In the statement that was released on the studio’s website, the future of the firm was explained:

Turtle Rock Studios, despite being a studio known for creating AAA games, is actually quite compact in terms of its workforce. Due to this reason, we find ourselves in a position where we can’t simultaneously develop content for Back 4 Blood and start working on another new game at the same time. Therefore, it’s now necessary for us to focus, return to our design spaces, and pour all our efforts into creating the next major project.

Turtle Rock Studios, the team responsible for creating games, initially had seven individuals working on a demo that eventually became Left 4 Dead. In March 2019, they unveiled Back 4 Blood, which was subsequently showcased during The Game Awards in 2020.

Initially launched in October 2021 across platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, Back 4 Blood garnered a mix of reviews as per Metacritic. However, in February 2022, Warner Bros. revealed that the game had amassed over 10 million players, making it one of the year’s fastest-selling original intellectual properties (IP) in 2021.
